Took the GTP out today after school and met up with a friend (Kyle) from school who thinks his 330hp v8 2001 GT can beat anything in the world. He just says how i have a FWD family car. We hit a light with no one in sight. I see the light on the left turning yellow, so i brake torque to 2000 rpm, (since i am not used to all the tq in the car, i spin ALOT without the brk tq). The light turns green, I immediatley let off the brake and hold the gas where it is, i slowly ease into it and then mash it around 15 mph, i get minimal wheel spin, and I take off, The whole way up to 90mph he is in my driver's side mirror not gaining, nor falling away. After the race we head back to his house and we talk. He we so surprised that i won. He kept saying that it freaked him out and he kept giving me props on my ride.

Here is the funny thing, He said how close are cars are in horsepower range and in speed, that we basically are the same in the 1/4, since we both have v8's as well.. Im like "Kyle, This is a v-6." He is like "WHAT?!!? That is one FAST car!!"

Oh by the way, he is not stock at all... here is what he has... He is Auto.

3" Exhaust with 3.5" magnaflow mufflers
7" K&N Intake
Throttle body
X-Pipe
Superchip.


For traction:
RWD (of course)
Eagle F1 racing tires
Lowered 1.5 inches all the way.

No doubt that car is sick, and it is fast. But what are your thoughts on this one?

GTP's if i recall correctly dyno near 200WHP give or take bone stock.
theoretically they should be at 192hp and 208tq stock to the wheels (ive seen a lot of them damn close) assuming 20% drivetrain loss.

the mustang at 300crank hp would be 240rwhp, with his mods it would have to be a factory freak and done under perfect atmospheric conditions to get this number- if hes just spewing off numbers and doesnt have a dyno graph hes just guessing based on what aftermarket parts manufacturers advertise. im sure you know by now that if a company says their intake will att 20hp, youll be lucky to see 5WHP out of it.


with your setup, the only way youd bee seeing 300CRANK hp is if you ran it with race gas and got the timing up a little and got 0 knock.

numbers to numbers, you guys should be a close race.

i think that may be pushing it a little BC

you are running headers and a DHP with a 3.4" pulley, chances are you arnt seeing ANY knock and you are seeing a good amount of timing.

take away the headers and replace them with rockers, and drop the pulley size- the car isnt going to run much better than yours, unless the conditions are perfect.


id love to see you dyno it ryan, ill bet money you are damn near 300 crank hp (240WHP) i dont see it being much more tho.

I think your headers would net more power then rockers? :blink:
