Just thought I'd start this thread up, so the 4 or so ST owners on this site would have a place to have some nice discussions about whatever.

Thirdgen89GTA , Smokinhot , willseph , I think thats it

I'll start it off w/ this. I've been browsing the new posts of focusst.org every day, and this one stuck out for me today. i do not understand this person, or the way he drives, but nothing he describes lines up w/ the way the ST reacts.

props to you thirdgen for trying to help him out w/ more of that calm, collected logic. haha

Have to really downshift in the ST even in cruise mode

How's the insurance cost for a 21 y.o. guy? My son is going to be looking in a few months and the ST looks like something he may be interested in.

Well im not a 21 y.o. guy anymore, but I was quite pleased w/ the insurance for this thing. Of course its gonna depend on who your insurance is with and and how many miles you drive and such, but after i tweaked some coverage on my gto, once i added the ST in my overall payment only went up maybe about $60/mo

I cant believe he says he has to downshift into first or else the car feels like it will stall out. There is NO reason to ever downshift into first in this car (or practically ANY car) unless youre coming to a complete stop.

Agreed. Most cars can even take off just fine from a stop in 2nd gear. I'm in the process of convincing my friend to get one. He was looking at used STIs, he's going to go test drive one tomorrow.

If he can deal w/ the fact that its wrong wheel drive I think theres a lot to like about this car. The interior quality alone is much better than what subaru is offering IMO. And if he goes for the recaros, he'll never wanna get outta the car.

My insurance went up about $10/month over my 2006 G6 GTP. So insurance wise its pretty cheap. When I spec'd out a WRX Wagon it was about the same price, but the WRX Sedan was another $30/month more. Its the hatchback. It changes the cars insurance class.

I looked at the cost of a normal Focus sedan and its more expensive than the ST Hatchback. This is through statefarm.

As for the downshift thread? Crazy guy. Its a turbo car, there is lag, no avoiding it. But I did test the 2nd gear 20mph thing on the way home. Went from vacuum to nearly full boost in less than 1 second. Traction was destroyed before it even reached full boost.

Same thing happend when I had a 2nd gear roll race with a N/A DSM that had about 218whp according to the owner. They got a door on me while i was spinning entirely through 2nd. Once I hit 3rd gear it finally caught traction I was gone.

I guess I'm going to have the car on Road America at the beginning of May. So I'll see how it does. Can't decide how serious I want to be. I can order a set of pads for the car to help the brakes stand up. But I need to replace the rear rotors, they have stress cracks that appeared over winter. No grooves though. Surface is perfectly flat and the rotor isn't warped.

I need to figure out what intake I wanna go with. I know it wont do anything w/out a tune, but I'm just lookin get a little more sound for the moment. haha. this car is just ungodly quiet. I'll probably just say screw it and go w/ the cp-e. A lotta people seem to like the injen intake on these cars. Its definitely the loudest, but im not sure i like the open filter designs. especially for out here in the AZ heat.

The Fusion-inspired facelift for the lesser Foci have already been revealed, but the shooters at KGP Photography have a new batch of shots of the overhauled ’15 Focus ST's front fascia. Behind the camouflage, there are signs of a more aggressive nose for the new ST, with some new angular flares intermingling beneath a version of Ford's corporate grille. The new face, which also shows a new chiseled and stepped chin spoiler design, will get a little more edge compared to the current ST's front fascia.

The prototype is also disguised at the rear, but those changes are expected to be closely related to the facelift already revealed. The ST's central rear exhaust is changed to a single pipe on this prototype, although this treatment is there most likely for simple testing reasons. Exhaust tips similar to the current ST are expected.

The nose on this Focus ST prototype likely provides something of a preview of the frontal treatment that will be applied to an even hotter Focus variant—the long-awaited Focus RS. While the RS has always been forbidden fruit for U.S. customers, we have heard many insider reports that the next Focus RS is expected to reach American showrooms in much the same state of tune given to the European market.

Ive never been a ford "hater", but Ive just never been a ford person in general, so it still surprises me every time i walk out and see that blue oval staring me in the face  I definitely have no regrets tho.

I was at whataburger getting some lunch on friday, and the guy in the window actually asked me if it was a focus st. First person ive come across that actually knew what they were looking at. haha. Most people dont even give it a 2nd glance. Thats fine by me. If I wanna turn heads I just take the gto out.

The reviews I have seen have the drivers smiling and laughing mainly due to the quick turn in and dialed in oversteer. Have you guys noticed this while you are driving the ST?

Yep. Very fun. But at the same time it won't step out on throttle. So you can easily balance the cars turn in with throttle.

On another note, I did a 2-3-4 run today.

Look at the wheel spin from 15mph, turbo hits and by the time the wheels stop spinning its 50mph.

Look at those charge temps soar. Stock intercooler definitely can't keep up in a circuit situation. Probably why Ford has "overboost" for only 15 seconds at a time. I can only imagine how high the charge temps would go at Road America when you are blasting down a 4100ft long straight.
