I have been through lots of receivers.. and worked with a guy that did multi-million dollar installs... and this one is good... I would be a little leary about that price though.. who is offering it at that...

Make sure the place is reputable... although it is a high end unit.. there are always a chance of something going wrong..

What kind of speakers are you using? What else is in your setup? This amp.. honestly is overkill.. (unless your like me with the speakers)..

Kenwood's only downfall is their remotes.. which are tedious to use.. but most people who would get something on this level.. would use something like a pronto remote.. or crestron components... something with programmable macros.

Make sure you know what your getting into.. and think about whether or not you really need it.. you might be just fine.. and exremly happy with something else... and it might save you a lot of money..

I have also been into the home theater thing for a while. I really like the Onkyo and Denon stuff a lot. For the money you want to spend on the Kenwood, you could get a high-end Denon, or even Pioneer Elite. A friend that does a lot of swapping in his system swears by www.audiogon.com , it's like the Ebay of high end audio. Since I'm downsizing my home theater rig a little, I'll be going with a mid-line Denon or Onkyo reciever, and getting the Klipsch quintet system. I audtioned quite a few different speakers, and for the price range these can't be beat. They are around $400 retail, but I've found them new on Ebay for as low as $250. I am going to keep my Velodyne sub though. I had Paradigm front towers with matching mini mk2's for surrounds, and surprisingly enough the Klipshes rivaled the sound. Whatever reciever you get, look at the component video and s-video switching capabilities. Even a lot of high end sets don't have enough, and it's so much easier to switch via the reciever than having to change the video input on the TV, then the receiver.

anything and everything you ever wanted to know about HT and or anything related . is all right here .

i just spent enough money on speakers that would of put my GP in the low 13's ... i bought the Klipsch RF-35's and i run a Denon AVR3801 , iam already looking for another amp to add for the fronts .

as far as what is the best , it really all depends on what your listening habits consist of . i would also recommend looking at the Harmon Kardon AVR7200 alot of power . it all just boils down to what sounds good to you .
