After my wife picked me up from the airport Saturday night, we stopped at Meijer for odds 'n ends. You know; juice, milk, snacks, etc. After we were home for about an hour, my wife grabbed a bag of bulk peanuts she got from Meijer and ate almost the entire bag and was sharing them with my 2 1/2 year old son. Just about when she was finished with them, a worm fell out of one of the peanut shells. Mind you my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant, we both flipped. After checking it out, seems like the worms are pretty harmless and we shouldn't have any health concerns. We went into Meijer the next day with the bag (sealed in a ziplock bag) and went to the service desk. We talked with a store manager, and he would only give us our $.70 back for the peanuts, and replace the peanuts. We were appauled, to say the least. My wife said to him "why don't I pay you 70 cents, and you eat some worms" He stated that was store policy and that was all they were willing to do. We had planned on doing our shopping there after we visted the service desk NO WAY!!! We walked out; why should we give them OUR business. I have been attempting to contact the Meijer HQ the last two days, and finally got a hold of the store director. He was actually very helpful, and I have a meeting with him next Saturday. He did bring to my attention by asking me about what they did when we informed them of the problem. After we visited the service desk, they didn't even check the bin we complained about the peanuts from! In fact, they didn't even look at the bag we brought in. The store director was pretty pissed that he was never even told about this. If they can give us some satisfaction, we will probably shop there again (as long as it's prepackaged), but I just wanted to share this little snippet...
