Make sure if he decides to give it to Carmax that he goes back before the offer expires in 7 days. If he shows up to trade it after the offer expires they revaluate the vehicle and offer a lower price. I know a few people who had this happen.
Yup.

Actually thats not true at least in my experience.

I know of nobody that allowed their CARMAX offer to expire and got the same offer the next time. Its always lower by $500 or $1,000. So, you never get on eof those unless your pretty commited to selling it to them.

Autotrader has it too and you can do it online. Their offers use to be pretty sweet, but lately they have been lowballing.

Hi! Now you do! Went after my offer expired, got evaluated again with the same offer. I guess they wanted my G8 that bad.

I think there are certain clean hard to find models that they will offer the same price for again. A clean g8 gt or gxp would be one of those cars. They are pretty popular and hold there resale well. I would think jeep wrangler would be another. As for a srt8 grand cherokee. I have a feeling that they may offer less for it. Your talking about a real specific buyer.

I had a buddy who worked for Carmax a while back and he said it was company policy to offer less even just 500 if the offer had expired. Now I don't know if that us really the case or just hearsay. That being said if you got a good offer from Carmax it is probably worth taking it to have cash in hand now. It's a lot tougher to get financing for a privately owned vehicle then a dealer. I'm not saying it isn't possible most good credit unions are willing to lend on private party vehicles. It just isn't as easy as walking into a dealer and doing it. Because of the price of this vehicle most interested parties will be financing as opposed to a cash deal. Just saying.
