It's helpful to know where the signal is coming from. Ever get an increasingly strong signal on your detector? Is it because you are approaching a radar trap or is an officer closing in on you from behind? Arrows tell you which one it is. Or, have you gotten an intermittent signal that seems to last and last? Where is this cop? Ahead of you and oblivious? Or targeting you from behind? Best feature with the arrows is when you pass a hidden trap and the arrows flip. You instantly know you have passed the trap rather than waiting for the beep.beep.beep....beep.......beep...............beep.

In general, the extra info increases your chances of making the right move to avoid detection without simply slowing down every time your detector beeps (which may not be necessary or the best move). Once you have had a detector with arrows, it's hard to use one that does not have them.

Escorts aren't bad detectors. It's just they would be better with arrows.

8500 x50 is all good. I've got a 9500 too. The 9500 showing the speed you're at when radar first hits you its its coolest feature, IMO.

For the $, if I bought new, I'd go 8500.

It scared the shit out Oct me when it went off at 127mph :picard:

I got a 9500ix and love it. Has saved me jail time.

9500ix ftw! I need to send mine in for repairs and an update. A month after i got mine the window bracket broke, so its stationary/velcro'd to the dash in the truck

It tells you when people down the road are being hit by laser. In most cases you get no warning when the cops are using laser.

How is this possible? The valentine is no better at catching lidar than the 9500ix. The only time your detector will go off is when a laser hits it, so it would only go off from cars in front of you if it bounced off those cars into your detector.

Your phone communicates with other people with radar detectors to let you know when laser is coming... Has nothing to do with a valentine.

If you want a deal on a escort radar find a buddy that works at best buy. Otherwise good deals on clist on used, or even new detectors. Just make sure they have a serial number. You can sent it into Escort to have the lastest software flashed on and recalibrated, I think it costs $50. Also you can "test drive" any Escort Radar (from the manufacture) for 30 days and you can return with no questions asked if you do not like it.

I had a 8500 back in the day but now have a 9500. Both great radars, and saved me many times. Without putting them side by side I couldnt tell you which one is better. But id say go 8500 just because of the price diffrence. People will fight over V1 vs Escort all day long. In the end they are both great radars and you cant lose with either one.
