wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! I'm all signed up and ready to go!

(only one left to wait for is northwoods at road america!)

What's the cost? I'll be waiting for the website sign up, since I hate calling in.

Larry and ShelbyGuy,

I was planning on joining a group this spring, probably in the midwest council. I want to do more cone lot autoX this year, and wouldn't mind getting onto a real track once or twice for AX (no WTW) as well. I see that the midwest council is having a training day in april (11-12 I think) at Road America and want to start out the season there.

My question is, which is a good group to join in the council? I went to a Salt Creek club AX last year, and they seem OK but crowded, and I also see the Chicagoland SPorts Car Club is close by. Is either one better than the other to join, and will either one give me crap about taking a truck to the road courses (like all the Porsche drivers tell me)?

Thanks,
Kevin

Cost is $295 for Sat/Sun with in-car instruction. $10 for the Saturday dinner and $15 for a event T-Shirt. SVTOA encourages Lightning owners to attend their On-Track events where as most other won't allow trucks of any kind. I think your best choices would be the Autobahn CC in May and SVT Days in July. John and I are registered for both.

Can't help you on the Midwest Council thing since I have not participated with any of their clubs. JSCC always attracted me due to the fact their events usually only have 35 cars attending.

I'll be at the CGI Motorsports School on May 9th. Their organization doesn't allow trucks.

Its listed as

Class B (stock,prepared,modified)
...
Ford Lightning (Truck) 1999-

so i guess they allow it. just watch those point assessments as you really dont want to be bumped into race class and all the assorted safety mods it requires.

the driving school will be at blackhawk farms, with some classroom time at the hotel in town a week or three beforehand. i hope they let me take it again.

its a totally different vibe at blackhawk farms, compared to jojuco parking lot. try it out, see if you like it. i joined half a dozen clubs over the last two years to see who i wanted to run with. what i learned is that the club doesnt matter so much, as its the same people at the events.
