Unfortunately, when this all happened some of us were not aware about it until an hour or so later. Mike at high speed noticed something wasn't right and stopped the dyno as the hp just fell drastically right before 6k. Thank Mike for that or it could have been worse. Later on Carl let me know that his engine light was on and wanted to check the code... well then we talked to a Tim who mentioned that others have had the same situation and instruected us on what to do exactly.

Carl check the code with a predator and cleared it not realizing that it would not stay in memory. A few other people mentioned that the car should keep the code in memory, but then again, Ford says it didn't. Can anyone confirmt that once cleraed, it's cleared for good?

An old post, but I have to agree - FUCK Fords Warranty. They don't warranty shit. I have to jump-start my car every other day cause the battery won't hold a frickin charge. Service writer says that is normal.

And I get Fuckin wind noise that is louder than the stereo cause of the 1/8" gap between the driver window and left rear window. Fuckin service writer says wind noise is FUCKIN normal in a vert.

This Cobra is by far the most expensive car I ever bought and it certainly has much more problems than any other car I ever bought. C'mon, a car that is designed to wheel-hop and shatter its stock tinfoil rear differential cover. What kind of engineering is that.

I guess that is why people spend extra money for a Z06.

I agree. We didn't buy the fastest car on the market for the warranty. I modded mine the first week and haven't stopped yet. If I break something, I put something bigger and stronger on it.

Love the power and the torque and life is too short to worry about the little stuff!

Buy it, mod it and never look back.

Go to a different dealer for the battery, or buy one at Sears (cheaper than a 3000 paint job).

And for the wind noise--Get a Bassani, or some stingers, or flows and listen to the 4v instead of the wind. Although ive never met anyone that has a convertible complain about wind noise before.

I think Ford anticipated this car to be a road car, not a drag car, wheel hoppin? Get out of it or get a stick axle. Ill trade you mine out of my GT for your IRS!

But most importantly dont let an asshole service writer get you down, leave an never look back there are 500 Ford dealers out there, one wants your business. Where did you go? Rizza?

Or is this just buyers remorse, cuz your not happy with something other than the car? It is what it is enjoy it or go get a Z06 and find out they have problems too (for more money)

Test drove the car on a Tuesday, it required a jump start to test drive it. Bought it that Saturday (4 days later) and it required another jump start. My fault for not demanding another battery before delivery because once you drive off the lot, forget it! The battery was bad before I bought the car.

I have Stingers, they are sweet. :). Even with the stingers, driving 80MPH on the highway and the radio 1/2 ~ 2/3 volume, I still hear the frickin wind noise. If I go 75 ~ 100% volume on the radio and drive below 45 MPH then I will not hear the wind noise. But if I want to limit my highway driving to 45 MPH then I don't need a Cobra, do I? And if you had a 1/8” gap between your two windows I think you would want it fixed also, vert or not!

Yes, I am sure they did. And it is a good road car. But when used as a daily driver/road car it hops quite a bit on the street. Just a moderate acceleration from a light and the car hops. I am talking very light acceleration with no boost. On wet or snow covered roads it hops even more. I wish I could use it as 100% road car, but since I can’t afford an exclusive road car it has to be a daily driver also. And daily driving is when it hops all the time. And if you want to swap I have seen others post that they want to swap their IRS for a solid axle.

Yes, I went to Rizza. That was my mistake. I did not have any problem with the sales department and they didn’t try and screw around with me or waste my time. But the service writer was an A-hole. So now I am going to Sutton. My visit @ Sutton went much better and the service writer was cool. (Above was posted before I went to Sutton) Not sure about the battery, but at least Sutton is going to replace the defective rear window that is causing the wind noise. :toast: Rizza didn’t even want to look for the wind noise, said it was normal for a vert.

Ford as a car may be a good car, Ford as a company is not as good IMO. I got a bad taste in my mouth with a recent cracked coolant crossover in a plastic intake manifold.

http://public.fotki.com/trsi/ford_intake_recall/manifold1.html#comments

Ever hear of a limited "No Charge Service" where Ford honors defective parts for Police, taxi and fleet vehicles but excludes personal vehicles? How would you like it if your 4.6L SOHC engine had a defective design (A plastic coolant crossover tube in the intake manifold) and Ford only warranted Police, Taxi and fleet vehicles even though the same manifold was used in millions of other cars? Now the intake coolant crossover is revised with a cast aluminum one. Just about every 4.6L manufactured from 1996 ~ 2001 had the plastic coolant crossover. I don’t think Ford stands by their warranty very well.

Just my .02

Vince Im glad that Sutton is trying to make you happy- The only mistake you made was RIZZA.
Just pulling your chain about the wind noise- like i said go somewhere else sombody will fix it.
I didnt read all of the posts on the thread you had a link to but it looks as if all the cars were out of warranty. Yes it looks as if it is an engineering durability issue. It looks as if there is a case to be made and i hope the consumer wins-but all auto companies try to increase profits. Warranty denials are part of the profit picture. Toyota is having problems with the passages gumming up on some of thier engines-out of warranty-possibly because of oil change intervals listed in the owners manual- Intervals were changed(almost admitting guilt like the aluminum plastic manifold on the 4.6s)They are refusing warranty. My point is this is common with all cars. I hope you continue to enjoy your car and dont let a certain dealership turn your opinion of your car.
And if your car hops under no boost-just light acceleration I would have them look at that as well-Mine doesnt do that Start a thread and ask others that drive thiers more often than me.This doesnt sound right to me.
I was kidding about the swap as my GT is my daily and i want to keep the warranty in tact. So they wont deny my claim for a new battery because i changed to an IRS

The hop is an IRS thing. I don't have a problem with the hop as much as the consequences of the hop. The way they mount the rear of the differential to the cover itself which is cast aluminum allows the cover to destruct under deflection. My only point is a newbie could take a bone stock car and do some quick spirited driving and quick starts and hop the IRS and break the diff cover. It wouldn't even have to be racing. Ford's answer would be abuse, but I wouldn't even call in negligence or abuse, I would call it poor engineering. I'll have to show Sutton my Dyno sheet and see what they think of the air/fuel. I'd hate to have to get a custom tune to correct this and throw out the warrenty.
