Coal fired plants cause a ton of pollution. The coal plant in Chicago created the most greenhouse gases in the Chicagoland area. The tribune had an artice recently on this.

Yep coal is terrible. Until we come up with a better/less polluting source of electricity then a plug in vehicle should be considered way more polluting then a gasoline powered vehicle.

Look at iowa's wind farms. There are a ridiculous amount of windmill generators in that state and that only accounts for 20% of their power usage.

American's don't want electic vehicles though. We are still a gasoline nation. Frankly, Hybrids aren't even the right direction. EV's still cause polution from the charging process, since a lot of the nation still uses coal fired plants. Hydrogen fuel cells are the future.

Wait until we get 5.00 and up gas. That will change a lot of thinking. Lutz said in the movie Revenge of the electric car. That everyone was critizing GM for making the wrong vehicles. But if gas is a buck fifty, no one cars about high miles per gallon vehicles. Demand follows priceing.
