My 98 T/A LQ4 build thread

Do it, Lq4's are cheap as dirt, better than an ls1/6, iron block and the low compression make it easier to turbo later

I ended up getting different water pump gaskets since the cheap felpro paper ones started leaking once enough coolant was in the system, I spent about $200 on fluids and the gaskets combined, along with 1 new map sensor (not pictured)

Coolant x2 already put in a gallon

Then heres the broken shifter cable that was still attached when I was dropping the engine

And complete, I forgot to repaint the lid, but I put it on for picture purposes, atleast the engine bay is...show worthy now

Ok so after many curse words and flying pieces I got the starter in and finish bolting evrything, I went to turn the key to finally start, it turned over and nothing was happening, I went over everything and went to turn the key realizing the fuel pump wasnt priming, and went over the grounds, I found a wire without a circle connector and I grounded it, One more time turning the key and VROOM it Roared to life. It literally scared the shit outta me, I quickly turned it off, I started her one more time and it idled at 2,000 rpms, with no base tune I turned her off once more to avoid bleeding ears.

Later this week when I get a new shifter cable in and brakes bled I'll be taking it to a shop for a base tune...............any recomendations??, theres nothing special on this engine just a stock toy for now

Well I have too video for you eagerly awaiting people the quality sucks because its from my phone, the first one is the where I shit my pants from how loud it was and turned it off right away, and the second one is when it starts and dies right away, when it dies it make this fluid sound, its from the coolant so don't worry about it and don't hate on me for starting it over and over, I finally got in it and put my foot on the gas in the end......enjoy eventhough there both really short

And the second, remember don't hate for the amount of key turns I did =P
 
So I know its been a long time since anything good came of this thread but going through a 3rd motor (the 5.3l) I called it quits for a bit. I went off and got a better job bought a truck and immediately took it off-road

Beat the hell out of it, then built it. Then I decided it was time for me to move up in the world and get myself a Harley after all those uncomfortable crotch rockets. Took a road trip to Colorado for a family reunion.

^Bad injector brand new outta the box

I decided against my original plans with the 102 intake and TB and plan on going another route sometime...this setup should be a dead giveaway :secret2:

Also got tired of the FP reg in the tank, so I just ran braided lines all the way up with the stealth pump and stuck a nice Aeromotive FP regulator on for good looks :rock:

^Inline filter, its strapped to the frame rail 3" from the exhaust so no worries

Phew!! Ok so that's what's been happening the past couple months of progress. I'll be ordering the throttle body and remaining fuel line fitting this week along with the last couple pieces to make her drive then off to get a dyno tune
