I'm sorry, but I am with PANDA on this one.

I have a G8 that is in storage as of early December and I live 400 miles to the South. It is not a collector's car by any means, but as PANDA said, he wants to keep it in as good of shape as possible and it is a PITA having to wash it every week in the winter. That is how I am... I wash my cars on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.

PANDA and myself are probably two of the biggest detailers/OCD guys on this board when it comes to detailing our cars. To mention the "quarter" wash is an insult to me.

We along with many others are lucky enough to have a DD and toy. For myself, probably PANDA and others... we can't just take our toys out because of where they are stored or for insurance purposes (only theft, fire and vandalism coverage are on my G8 right now).

And to say that you have more money in your cars and you are faster than PANDA is like saying you have a bigger e-penis.

my dads ram has 290,000 miles on it. 16 years old and driven every winter in all the snow and slush. but guess what? it looks outstanding. re religiously washes it IN THE WINTER "not in the summer haha" to keep the salt off and it shows. a little snow and salt will not make your MOSTLY ALUMINUM car disintegrate....

the cold tires make stuff fun. im breaking the tires loose at 55mph! plus, when i do this... it doesnt use HALF as much tire as on a 80* day....

i have more money put into these truck than your car is worth. ill also stay a head of you in the 1/4 and can hang with you in the twisties. my truck couldnt MOVE in the snow. i will never drive it in the snow again "it was an accident" and i fucking LOVE snow. i cant stand we had a green christmas! i wish we had a few feet! but since we dont im going to make the best of it.

your winter toys cant come out w/out winter weather! your vette wont get dirty right now. like i said A DUSTING of salt and a quick "spot free" rise will clean it off. of course you can get a nice car wash and spend an hour in the driveway... but its not needed. my trucks will last twice as long as your car. i already have over 100,000 miles on the black one and 140 on the blue and BOTH are PROBABLY in as good of shape as your car.
GUESS WHAT! THEY HAVE BOTH BEEN THROUGH THE SNOW! AND A LITTLE SALT! you have no idea what your talking about and your an arrogant prick who thinks his vette is the best car ever made.

Im sorry if you have so much money "invested" into these trucks. The claims you make are very bold since you do not know me, or have seen my cars.

Now I am not going to get into washing cars, but I can tell already your procedures and standards are not comparable to mine.

Your cars will outlast mine? This is another very bolt statement.

The Z06 IS the best car ever made. :dunno:

Mid November Weather!!! Better drop the convertible top and remove t-tops, time to bring out RACE CARS!!!! I wish we even had a slight covering of snow. Would have made Christmas that much more enjoyable.

You drive fucking pickup trucks and you are flamming me for putting a corvette into storage for the winter? Seriously? I can careless about driving it. Its winter, winter toys come out. Cant enjoy it to its full potential anyway when its this cold. Yes it will end up in a junkyard someday, but I would like to keep it as nice as I can while its under my ownership. I have enough rust issues with the GTP. Like I said, couldnt even drive it if I wanted.

I don't do that self wash bay shit, and when I do wash my cars I dont just hose them down and call it good. Those places are horrible anyway. Put in $1.25, wash car with rock covered brush, time runs out fast, end up spending $9.00. Freeze balls off. Then have to clean it AGAIN once I am home or at storage. Sounds like a great plan. But its mid nov weather, so its cool.

I did put it away "early" this year but I kinda had to. Probably would have kept it out till the first salting, which was what mid December? I drive 4 miles to the train station daily, I can care less about gas milage or having a fun drive. GTP is plenty fun.

I hope you get stuck in a blizzard.

Corvettes are made of balsa wood and fiber glass. Wtf is gonna rust?

i dont mean to be a dick but your so blinded by your stupidity that you cant even see the point im trying to make.

me: the sky is blue
you: no its definalty pink cause thats what it is every year
me: no, look outside, its blue right now JUST LOOK i have proof! its right infront of you
you: no no, your wrong, i dont need to look out side or take any part of your argument into consideration... your just wrong im right

see why im so aggervated??

I dont mean to argue just laughing at all these "nice weather" posts, mostly on facebook lately. People need to remember this is late December, and it isnt THAT nice out.

I am aggervated because I take my GTP to the carwash and by the time I am home its covered with salt and looks like shit. But I cant simply dust it off, and cant wash it again in my garage or driveway. Because its cold out. It might not look like the roads are salted, but for the people who actually try to keep cars clean its pretty obvious.

My dads 02 Durango had 115K on it and he had to sell it due to rust issues. He owned it since very low miles and kept up with washing it for the most part but the chicago winters really got to it! He sold it and bought a Tahoe :nutz:

IDK about you but cold weather is not fun and can get you in trouble really fast. Breaking the tires loose at 55mph? My stock GTP can do that. :gives:

i pulled out my e-penis when panda started trash taking my trucks cause he doesnt know my truck at all. if i was a vette owner i would think the same thing about a "truck" guy lol

then you worry way to much about keeping your car show room perfect for the mice to see it in storage. i can understand more now that i see you guys are SUPER CLEAN FREAKS. i dont see the reason for the car to be PERFECT for storage. i understand during the summer when your driving it and when your showing it.... but just cause its clean now, wont make it cleaner then.

my truck gets dirty, and its impossibly to keep it clean. its black... impossible. but in all reality, its rarely noticed how clean it is when i do clean it. so why worry so much about keeping it PERFECT when you cant notice it.

either way thats an entirely different argument and i understand people have their SUPER ULTIMATE DETAILED CARS.... mine never gets like that haha. hell, my truck hasnt even had its final wet sand and buff since it was painted! lmao

Perfect canidate for an Optimum No Rinse(ONR) wash. 2 buckets, 4 gallons of water and the ONR solution and you got yourself a clean, swirl free, streak free shine.

Id like to try that but would be very reluctant the first time. This does not really solve the washing car in winter issue though.

Which part? The one where it's gonna get dirty again when it gets wet?

It's easy as fuck. Put warm water in there, do one panel as you would usually do and then dry it off. Rinse sponge in rinse bucket and repeat for each panel. I do it all the time. Plus it makes your car look glossy

Yeah I'm trying to figure out this salt issue that panda is taking about. They salted, what once two weeks ago? :dunno: umm hasn't it rained a few times since then thus washing any and all salt off the road? Hell I took my motorcycle out Christmas eve and today i saw 5 motorcycles out in a 30 minute time frame of driving the caprice around.

Panda- ummmm you are complaining about the cold if you had to wash/wipe any of your cars off yet you have a fucken SNOWMOBILE that gets ridden in much colder weather then this 30-40 degree weather. You told me earlier before that you hope I wasn't one that complained about the cold since I had taken my bike out yet all I hear out of you in this thread is you bitching about 30-40 degree weather being to cold to wash or wipe off your car. Sack up or shut up.

Hey wait, don't you clean off your snowmobile during the winter when it does get extremely dirty?

Washed the Mustang today, drove it to my parents to have dinner over there, and drove home. Still spotless and no salt dust or any dust for that matter. :dunno:

See people also say the same thing, I don't know if its just my area but the first time we got accumulating snow they salted the FUCK out of the roads. The 2nd time they did the same thing. Minimal salt is left on the roads from the rain (exceptionally the rain last night) but as of Friday my car was covered in salt dust as soon as I got home from the carwash.

When I am talking about winter washing I'm talking when its normal temperatures out. Its hard to wash a car outside when water freezes on it, hoses freeze hard, and hands get extremely cold dipping in and out of a bucket.

Sleds get detailed at the end of the year. They really don't get that dirty unless you drive trough slush or mud also helps they are transported in a enclosed trailer.

I love rust buckets that will run down a vette.

Do you own one also?

Hell yeah. I got no wipers either. The defrost doesn't work till I drive a good 30 minutes cause of the 160 t-stat.

holy race car bro

Panda it must be your area that gets salted to fuck, or maybe you have a lot of gravel roads by your house. :dunno: but I know most towns are doing what they can to cut cost and salting = money so the less they salt, the more money they save.

And yeah I know what you mean about it being below thirty and hoses freezing and shit but as of right now it's above 32 degrees during the day aka shit ain't freezing.
