IDK what it was doing before this, I was told it was turning on and freezing right away. Now, it's not even sending a signal to the HDMI cable. It turns on, I can hear a fan running, but nothing shows up on the TV. Does anyone have any remedies I can try? Or maybe Freebeer can put his hands of gold on it and give her the fixens?

Happens, try resetting the video settings. Whenever I move the ps3 from one tv to another I usually have to reset them.
If you have a Sony PS3 that you move from place to place, you may run into the issue where you connect it to a new TV or monitor and you can't see anything because the video settings are different than what your PS3 is configured for. When this happens, you can't even get to the screen that allows you to set the video settings, so you are basically screwed. If this happens to you, there is a fix. Turn off the power to your PS3 and then turn it back on again. But when you turn it on, hold down the power button until you see something on the screen. When you hold down the power button of the PS3 when you are turning it on, it completely resets the video settings to the most basic settings (480p I think) so that it'll work on any TV or monitor. Once you can then get something on the screen, you can configure the video settings to match the TV you are hooking up to. You'll probably have to do the same thing when you take it back to your original location. But at least with this trick you can now move your PS3 around if you want.

Ok, so i tried that (thanks BTW) and I see about 10% of the screen (spread out) there's a bunch of red, green, blue, dots. Then it "flashes" and goes to a black screen. Before you couldn't even connect the remote, this time i connected, but that's all that happens. I don't hear any noise at all except a faint noise from one of the fans running. I ASSume this thing has a hard drive that if I'm not mistaken, I could usually hear booting up when it was turned on, and now I cannot hear that. This would make sense since my brother (who owns it) leaves the thing on 24/7. If he's had it 3-4 years now, it's been on 90% of the time. I wonder if I can snag a new HD from somewhere and try it?

Probably could use a cleaning. You will be amazed what the inside of these things look like after even just a few months.

As far as the connection, dunno how to fix it specifically, but you could always try the tried and true baking technique. Used it on Mikes (99pontiacgt) PS3 twice with success with fixing his YLOD. All that does is just reconnects the solder joints, which might be the issue here.

When u did the reset did u hear it "beep"? When I switch from HDMI to the other thing, it does this. So I have to reset it. I always heard a beep then I see it reset.

Yeah Fish, the thing is COVERED in dust. Those two idiots don't take care of anything. My only reasoning for thinking it's the HDD is because it just don't hear anything happening, unlike before it would make "noises" as it would turn on.

So, I assuming I take her apart, clean it up, and how long shall it stick it in the oven and what temperature? I yanked off the side cover before I read what you wrote, and it looks like it's just a couple screws that hold the HDD in, and like you said, pretty easy to change out. ASSuming the cleaning and oven doesn't fix the problem, (it's the fat glossy style PS3) where do i snag one of those HDD's?

I usually stick the board in for 10 minutes @400 degrees. It is just the one blue screw holding the HDD in place. Then it will slide to the right then straight out. After that, its 4 holding it to the carrier.

Taking the entire PS3 apart isnt hard at all. You will need a T10 (IIRC) security torx bit to take the first part off. After that, its all phillips head screws.

Frys. It's a standard sata 2.5" laptop harddrive. Bring it with you to any frys or bestbuy and they will get you something better

For what it's worth, I thought the ps3 would still boot without a harddrive.:dunno:

I think it will boot, but it wont do jack shit if there is no HDD.

Awesome, and IDK what all is considered "booting up", but like i said before, it shows some colored dots on the screen, flashes like it's resetting, and then absolutely nothing happens. I'm going to take her apart tonight and toss that board into the oven. I'll have :x: the whole time

I turned it on today and lightly hit the HD with the soft end of a screw driver. Now it makes noise when i turn it on, but it just shows a completely blank screen. Video is uploading as we speak. Problem is, this internet connection blows a huge load of shit. Fuckin' 20min to DL a video 30sec long... ugh.
