Cue all the nineties references and mockery. I miss rollerblading and want to get back into doing it as a work out. So I'm looking at buying some online and was wondering if anyone knew anything about good places to buy from or brands. I also vaguely remember something about having to buy than bigger than your shoe size is or something. Any advice?

I would go to Dick's, Sports Authority, etc... and try on as many pairs as you can within your price range. Skate around the store a little bit and see what fits/is most comfortable . From there you will know what you like. Do not buy anything below $100 as these will most likely be pure garbage. I am not sure what brands are best since all I buy are hockey skates. I would check Amazon and read the reviews. You definitely do not want your foot moving around in the boot, so get the size that you would normally wear, do not go bigger. I would look into a pair that is in the price range of $150-$200. You will get some good quality skates without going overboard.

From like 6th grade through mid high school I was a booter. Did "aggresive skating". Was sponsored by a local shop, PAWN and Salomon. I woke up and realized it was pretty dumb sport and never skated again.
OK back on topic. Head to Dicks, like stated above, and try them on. I would recommend picking up a semi decent pair. They will feel more comfy and form to your foot better.

Me personally I'd look into K2 skates. I know quite a few people that had them over the years and really liked them. I've had to borrow my brothers before as I didn't have my skates(hokey skates, Mission's FTW) and was really impressed by them. Not sure what local stores carry them but I'm sure a few of the stores you go to try skates will have them.
But here's their website for now.

And ditto to what everyone else said, spend the money on a better pair. More form fitting, better bearings, all around it will make it much more enjoyable.
