What set of springs were you planning on using for the IS3?
Why would you buy a cam knowing it is junk and makes really shitty power? You might as well put on stock heads/cam/rockers if you're going to run an IS3 cam. Unfortunately ZZP does charge a little over $100 more than intense for their cam, but it's better, thus justifying the cost right there.

I didn't. I've heard nothing but good things about it, you being the exception. I agree the XPZ is probably the best s/c cam; I wasn't implying from that statement that the IS3 is a shitty cam, just that the XPZ is probably better.
Basically, there was never a point in time when it was a toss up between those two cams. I picked up the IS3 from a friend demodding/parting out for $50. If not for that, I was just going to continue running my XP with the new heads and call it a day.

I tried the TCGvids thing. My first video didn't work. This exhaust test one did though.

You can't embed videos from TCGvids?

Sounds really nice, but that made me nervous around that one minute mark. How I shredded my first input shaft was by doing that testing fuel pressure.

Wow I wouldn't have figured. Did you go all the way to WOT? I was kinda easing the pedal down until I started to feel uncomfortable about it which was probably around 50% throttle when I started hearing the whine a little.

Didn't go WOT, as I was instructed to definitely not do so (we were in a buddies garage). I was bliping the throttle, maybe hit 50% throttle. It was on a stock input shaft, but it rounded off the damn thing. I was at around 270whp at the time though....prolly a little more than what they suggest with a stock trans.

Update

I went back over to Alex's house in Crete to get more shit off his car and to pull the motor/trans out. Turns out his engine never got running right because the builder neglected to transfer the CPS magnet into the new timing set. BTW I was not around for any of that so I don't know all the little details but I believe he mentioned some oil press. problems as well. ANYWHO, we attepted to pull the IS3 cam out for me to take home and bring it over to James' place with the new L26 to set up the machined timing set for starters. It turns out one of the middle-ish journal bearings is spun and stuck to the cam -- WTF?? We couldn't even get it out. Alex just got done basically tearing the motor all the way down to get his Diamond forged pistons out and whatnot. As of now, I don't think the cam has made it out.

At this point, I have a feeling this cam isn't coming out without damage. What do you guys think? Should I expect it to be fucked already with the one bearing stuck to it and not spend anymore time wondering if it's good or bad? The lopes and the other bearings look good from what I could see through the top of the block.

Hey!
I don't know how far to go into it but

engine:
CIMG2943.jpg

XP cam w/ supporting valvetrain & YT roller rockers
XSP headers, exhaust shop made 3" exhaust with quiet muffler
ported/inlet smoothed blower w/ northstar TB, LS6 maf, 4" intake
42lb injectors, aeromotive fuel rails, PRJ fuel pump
zex dry nitrous system with a HSW controller for fueling - connected but hasn't been used yet
tuned by me and I'm no tuning master but it's decent

I'm in the middle of upgrading all of the suspension and whatnot right now.

Sitting on my desk as we speak to go this summer are ported/smoothed genV, WBS intercooler, smoothed LIM, intense S3 heads and S3 cam, GMR torsen limited slip diff in about a week and a million other little things. I'm just working on piecing stuff together and basically when I get laid off this summer, I'm going to do it all.

DAMN... Like DAMN anyway what size pulley you run

Now, 3.2-3.1" with some added timing and it's tuned decent for what I can do. My desired AFR at WOT isn't quite agreeing with what the O2's are showing so I'm not really trying to dial it in yet - Also why I'm not spraying yet. Once I get the rest of this junk done, I need a wideband and then I'll get serious with the tune and run lil pulleys.

New build came about 6months early thanks to my JP single timing set failing. I was mistakenly expecting some warning signs before just snapping a link but nope!

Build:
original motor: stock '97 L67 longblock 205k mi (perfectly good shortblock other than some kisses on the pistons left from the valves, heads are garbage as far as I'm concerned) was running xp cam, 1.6rr, chris kemp gen3m90, northstar tb, 42lb inj, xsp headers, tuned dry shot n2o (only put about 1 bottle through the motor) ran a 3.2 pulley with a really rough tune kr free
new motor: L26 79k mi out of a 2006 Buick Lucerne
*all the Schlim oiling mods done, balance shaft deleted
*properly fitted rollmaster double timing set
*IS3 heads, IS3 cam, Yella Terra 1.6 roller rockers went back in with hi-tech pushrods
*stock thickness MLS head gaskets/ARP studs
*very custom gen5m90 with northstar tb
*WBS intercooler core installed under blower but I still have to get the rest of the system to get it functional.
every thing the intake air touches is fully smoothed from the throttle body to the exhaust ports

Other stuff done at the same time
*Dynotech modified GMR torsen installed
*Addco oversized sway bar with poly links and bushings installed
*solid front & rear trans mounts installed made by yours truely.
