The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond has announced his new series away from Jeremy Clarkson and James May and the name was asking for trouble. The 49-year-old’s new show on Discovery is called….. Richard Hammond’s Big. Even the main man himself is rinsing it. ‘Yes, I can appreciate the irony in Richard Hammond’s Big,’ he wrote to his 3.05 million Twitter followers who, understandably, lapped it up. Although, compared to Clarkson he got off pretty lightly. ‘Right we’ve got Hammond with Big, now we need Clarkson with ‘Small’ and May with “Exciting”,’ teased one fan, which was echoed by another: ‘Now @JeremyClarkson needs a series called “Small”.’

May recently confirmed he was branching out of The Grand Tour too with is new project Our Man In Japan, which began filming earlier this year. ‘Japan is the most amazing place I’ve ever visited,’ he enthused when breaking the news of his epic adventure. ‘Everything about it is a surprise: a boiled sweet, a bullet train, an unexpected ancient temple, and the challenge of eating a single edamame bean with chopsticks.’

But fear not, petrolheads. The Grand Tour isn’t going anywhere – despite that teary season three finale. In fact, Clarkson recently assured he’s already been hard at work on the next adventure ‘for a while’. Although, The Grand Tour as we know it is over. For the first time, Clarkson, Hammond and May will no longer be joined by a studio audience but will instead be travelling the four corners of the planet on epic road trips, much like their drama-packed time in Mongolia.
