Holy shit short of the truck driver having a heart attack at the wheel I don't see how that wouldn't be manslaughter. Then again with the way they are acting I don't think any of them survived and it was glaringly obvious.

ED:

1 dead, driver in custody for suspected DUI. Was previously released before. Previous charges included DUI and felony elusion of police.

Of course the DUI driver was not injured in the crash, yet everyone else is either dead or in the hospital....

In this day of Uber, Lyft, and Taxi's I don't know how DUIs are even still a thing.. Dont be a fuckhead and call a service and go get your car tomorrow.

It was before 8AM, he was just a shithead druggie. Probably went everywhere that way, no way Uber or Lyft is going to be a feasible option for someone like that.

He even tried to run, good thing he wasn't able to... or maybe not? Looked like he was in no condition to successfully Frogger the other side but who knows.

RIP to the poor lady, that's some bullshit right there. On your way to work and some oxygen thief does something like that. It's like watching that accident where the Nuns got killed by the habitual drunk, just awful and gut wrenching.

Hard to see where the woman in the Altima ended up. Hopefully it ended quickly for her RIP.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not well versed with DUI laws, but this is definitely proof that there should be more drastic measures for second offenders.

Its a sad statistic, but they almost always survive (from experience). You are correct, DUI's are at an all time low because of ride share services that were not available in the past. Departments were complaining (from the direction of MADD) that DUI arrests are way, way down. Somehow no one did the math that uber and lyft had something to do with the decrease in numbers.

I'd bet you could UBER from California to NYC for less than a DUI costs, not including the toll it could take on your work/personal life. You don't even have to fuckin' call, phone, tap, tap, tap, uber on the way.

Sadly I think about this all the time now since that drunk lady hit me head on. I worry more about my daughter being killed by an ignorant drunk POS on the road.

""Turns out the driver had a prior incident in November. He fled from police for 17 miles, ran on foot, finally got caught, & only received 2 months of jail time. 6 months later, he’s at it again, but ends up killing someone this time. ""

mother fucker

A pickup driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after violently plowing into a car, killing the driver, and causing a multi-vehicle chain reaction traffic collision on the southbound 15 Freeway in Temecula Tuesday, authorities said.

Javier Caldera, 25, of Auburn, Washington, was speeding when his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided into the back of a small Nissan on the freeway, just as traffic was slowing down south of Rancho California Road at around 7:25 a.m., California Highway Patrol said.

Dashcam video posted to YouTube shows the moment the pickup truck quickly came crashing into the back of the Nissan, sending a big cloud of debris into the air.

The car was completely destroyed on impact, with its roof and trunk broken off and the back seats smashed in, video showed.

The Nissan’s driver, a 44-year-old Murrieta woman, died at the scene, authorities said.

The impact from the crash was so powerful, it created a chain reaction effect that involved four other vehicles, including a Chevrolet S-10 Pickup truck that was forced off the roadway onto the Temecula City Hall parking lot where it collided with a structure. The driver, Mike Rivera-Aguilar, 38, sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, according to CHP.

Two other people, an Irvine man and a Mississippi man, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital, CHP said.

Caldera was not injured in the crash, authorities said.

A man accused of driving while under the influence was arrested after a chain-reaction crash left one person dead, others hurt, and sent a car off the freeway Tuesday.

Javier Caldera of Auburn, Washington, 25, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in connection with the crash, authorities said. Caldera was believed to be intoxicated, the CHP said.

Group Wants Mayor Garcetti Recalled Over Homeless Crisis

Video from after the devastating crash shows him stumbling across a freeway median before collapsing in the grass.

The crash occurred on Interstate 15 a little before 7:30 a.m. near Rancho California Road, the Riverside County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol said. At least five vehicles in all were involved, and one car went flying off the road and into the parking structure at Temecula City Hall.

A gray Chevy Silverado speeding on the freeway was seen in frightening surveillance video ramming into the back of a sedan, apparently not applying the brakes at all. Video from another driver's rear-view camera shows the pickup swerve from the shoulder of the road, cutting across lanes at an alarming speed.

The victim's car was flattened by the impact, and another White Chevy Tahoe sustained major damage.

Two people managed to survive the crash without serious injuries while others were hurt, authorities said.

So, in all seriousness... What if large SUVs and pickup trucks were only allowed as work vehicles or secondary vehicles for utilitarian purpose only (towing, hauling loads, etc.)? Small SUVs (CRV, RAV4, Escape, etc) and mini vans excluded for actual passenger/family capacity.

90% of the time those vehicles only have 1 occupant. They’re terrible on gas. Many of the drivers struggle to even park between the lines in a parking lot. And it’s an unfair hazard to those who live life with a reasonable vehicle.
