Default Licensed Plumber for Fire Hydrant Repair Needed

I'm looking for recommendations for plumber that can do fire hydrant repairs. My association is looking for bids and I wanted to put this out here for any recommendations.

Back story...one of the fire hydrants on the property started leaking up from the ground on Monday night. A plumbing service came out today, thawed the hydrant and was able to shut the water off.

They propose that they need to machine excavate down 6.5' to the auxiliary valve to replace the bolts and seals. They would also replace the rubber seal and bolts on the hydrant, restore water supply and check for leaks. Then backfill with gravel up to the drain hole and top with onsite soil.

The hydrant was originally installed in 1996 and this is the first issue we've had with it.

Please post or PM.

Thanks in advance
Tommy

Good luck in your search

I had 0 idea an association could be responsible for such a thing and not the town/village.

Seriously, the village came out and said it's on private property so the association is responsible. This also includes anything under the driveways...so sewer, gas lines, water mains, etc.

.

Agree completely.
I build CATV systems on private property every day, it is not theirs, it's still owned by Comcast or WOW.
When I call in a julie, the actual utility owner pays for that, not the home owner.
When some goof cuts a line, the home owner does not repair it, the utility that owns it repairs it and bills the guy that damaged it, or eats it, their choice.

Unless something has really changed in the last 30 years, there is no way in hell a home owner is even allowed to touch any utility, especially one owned by the government!!
