I don't consider myself a Dem or Rep. I have always been anti-government when it comes to taking more money out of our pockets because they can't manage the money they are already stealing from us. This will not pass. It's just like the sugar tax. I blame the government in general.

Frank, out of curiosity, in the past, have you used your miles as a deduction on your federal tax filings?

Still waiting, has a single liberal politician ever mentioned cutting spending??
How about cracking down on fraud, waste, abuse & corruption???

I thought the liberals were pushing electric cars on us, so now they are trying to take away one of the best incentives??
Great thinking, is it any wonder why the liberal agenda is so horrible/destructive to our "ONCE" great nation!!!

Let's go out and destroy every thing that made this nation so prosperous so quickly!!

Yeah, fuck that shit.

They can shove that device where the sun don't shine.

Do they really believe people will be OK with mandated government tracking devices on personal vehicles?

I have written off my work mileage for the past 6-7 years on my taxes. I believe this year the rules have changed on mileage write from what I have heard, I see my accountant next week to learn more on this.

It looks like it will only be on the 18 highways where the mileage would be taxed? Iím sure the tracker will our Ipass device that we all have.

It really is. We finally hired a sales guy and I feel he/his position is useless. We'd be better suited having a customer service rep who posts on Facebook. With the way shits going.

You won't be able to anymore. The opinion around here is that writing off miles is scamming the government.

Itís going to affect so many people if they do this law, from outside sales people, to realtors, to business owners who lease cars and write the mileage off.

So done with this state.

Illinois taxes are like somebody in a bar grabbing two handfuls of darts and tossing them at once at the dartboard. Some stick, some don't. If they don't get you with this tax, they'll get you with another.

That yellow vest idea is good. I wonder what politicians would do if a few thousand people showed up in Springfield in yellow vests?

Business owners still can on their schedule C, but other than that you won't be able to.

Automobile maintenance sales tax
Gas tax

City sticker tax

Letís not forget that if this is implemented for trucks the cost of EVERYTHING will go up overnight. Do you really think freight companies are going to eat the cost?

Lol proposes a bill with zero research.... then does some quick checks into it and realizes what he proposed is waaaayyy more in-depth than he can fathom, saw the backlash for it and decided to ďtableĒ it.

Sounds about right

Not at all what people were saying, they were saying writing off miles while getting compensated for miles from your company was double dipping.

As cars become more efficient and more people drive electric vehicles, many states are facing a significant decline in revenue from motor fuel taxes.
One reason for a decline in revenue is the State waiving sales tax when diesel fuel has 11% biodiesel. How much money did Illinois give up for that?

Raising cost of diesel raises the cost of everything else. A few states tried that (Washington I think) and it failed miserably and was repealed within 3 months.
