Sounds like someone has paid to be given a "ride" for years.

A least have them explain it to you, or help you comprehend it. You already know you were losing money due to not claiming the kids anymore. Id assume head of household is also off the table. On top of not double dipping anymore. And Im sure you arent claiming 0 for exemptions either.

So who's fault is it? The guy that pays someone and takes their word for it, or the guy that refused to change to get with the times and stay on top of their financial situation? Or Both.

If this thread isn't the epitome of the current leftist mindset I don't know what is.

I literally posted a page or two back, we owe over 6k. Not getting 6k less back than last year (but still getting 4k or whatever), I am actually going to have to write a 6k+ check back between state and federal. I already said, I understand taxes just barely enough to understand what and where things went wrong for my wife and I instead of blaming the system or whatever. So please, are we now "even" that I understand where you are coming from and angry?

I'm not calling you a liar or illiterate or a trump hater. What I definitely will call you is crazy for acting like you are the victim here after getting up on your soap box and trying to tell us how getting your taxes professionally done and creating a meaningless poll on tcg somehow makes you qualified to declaring how the new tax law has fucked over most americans, while also using that same fact as a crutch for why/how you don't understand how taxes work, because "i have them done by a professional".

I said it before and I'll say it again. How all of these "professionals" either haven't explained this or been able to tell you that you need to change your withholdings for 2018 for example, is beyond me and I'd be using every ounce of my anger towards them, if you want to start blaming someone i guess?

I honestly thought you were trolling here, but after every subsequent post, I believe that less and less.

I paid less in taxes this year. Thanks Trump.

Instead of arguing something irrelevant (Tax refunds) why don't we start talking total tax paid?

2018: Line 15

If you are mad trump closed a loophole and you have to pay your "fair share" please go complain someplace else.

Didnít read the rest of the thread yet but wanted to point out that it wasnít employers who cut withholding early in 2018; it was the treasury. They also at that time advised people to check their withholding and run their numbers on an IRS tax calculator but hardly anyone did.

Damn this shit gets confusing lol

Good thread here BTW. Nice to see some people understanding and trying to improve their understanding of how taxes work and the impact of the recent changes.

Also agree that making a poll that includes amount of tax refunded is a flawed way to assess the relative benefit of the change. It’s probably a better indicator of who understands the process more than anything else.

If I made $40k more I would gladly pay the extra tax. My problem is that I am making $40k less than 4 years ago and I am paying more tax also. Sorry, but I am going to whine. The actual thread title is "Group Therapy". Pull up a chair and tell us how you feel....

Maybe if you let me drive your GTR I would feel better.

Last years filing for my company we ended up owing 98k. This year, although sales were 3M more, we are looking at 90k. I hate this time of year.
