Makes it hard for new members or anti-social fuckers like myself to figure out what's going on in the conversation. Newbies may feel they can't ever break past this and move on to other sites etc.

Not a big deal for me as I just continue on but I've heard this complaint from many other older forums and have seen it here many a time.

I had to miss this past years (Due to well, Child birth), but 2016 was an absolute blast, and it looks like 2017 was a riot as well.

Is there a planning thread for 2018 yet?

Also; another Dyno Day and/or track day would be fun. Is there a release date for Fast 9 yet

I know event planning takes blood/sweat/tears/time/and potentially cost, but those are by far the most rewarding forum based things I've done.

I agree with this, same as @BADAZZTEALCOBRA was saying. When I first joined this site YEARS ago, it felt clickish until I went to some meets and met people and understood the sarcasm and ball busting that happens around here.

This place acts more like a community then a forum sometimes and people can feel left out or feel targeted when really you are just being welcomed to the shit show that we all enjoy.

Where I'd be and maybe some of my fault
-I'd love to see an odd south event in a rare while. Probably not gonna happen, but hey why not? Seems like you have to be north or west to get any action.
[email protected] needs more casino cash. The dude's already put a note out on his house and pawned his tools and wife's jewlery. Cut the guy some slack.
-I can see where the politics thread is toxic. Not sure what to do about it.
-In terms of meet ups, I'd love to do some sort of wrenching sessions or a JY run. Not sure about a time, place or other but I think it'd be fun.

complaining about the lengths of one's posts is silly to me.

If i had to use one word to describe what the site needs, it would either be "acceptance" or "tolerance"...

It seems there is a select few people on here who just get upset at insignificant things that they don't agree with or believe in, then their emotions get the best of them when they post comments. Yes, nearly all of it comes from the political threads or the threads on people posting about stupid criminals.

Some have mentioned that the site should stick to mainly car stuff. There is only so much content to post about car related material, and it will get very boring, very quick. That would be a sure way to lose members. People just need to lighten up and let things be the way they will be. That's called freedom. If you don't agree with something, act like an adult in response to it, or ignore it and move on. You're never going to get the world to agree on everything. There may be a member or two who goes overboard sometimes, and thats what the banhammer is for.

Just saw this when I checked my lap top which brings up a point...

Phone users get a different experience than laptop/desktop users. With a laptop and using the "New Posts" button I can click into whatever thread I want and avoid any thread that doesn't interest me. With a phone, from your comments, I assume you are forced to look at every thread? I don't use my phone to surf the site so I don't know how it works.

If this is the case, Putting certain sub forums into non Live Feed mode seems to be a good answer. As mentioned, people would then have the option of clicking into them without being forced to see politics, food, guns or whatever else that is not car related. How about if the entire General Discussion sub forum was excluded from Live Feed? Would that help lower the unwanted phone traffic, guys? I think it would cut your phone pings way down. If you want into the General Forum, you could still use New Posts or the Forum buttons.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure I'd consider myself OG? I've been around for a long fucking time though, and seen a lot of TCG, I was just never one to get out to meets. Just not my jam, and I was OK with that. I've met a handful of you all in person through business deals, a random meet, weddings, etc. Meets seemed clicky, as others have said, but then again there is a tight group of friends, and that should be expected.

My problem with recent TCG (last 2-3 years or so) is the political climate. I'm apparently a liberal of the highest order (even if I am really pretty moderate, verging on Libertarian) on this forum. The mob mentality has really culminated to a fairly unacceptable level. Things that would've gotten moderated out 5 years ago, is left to stand. I understand @Mook , @Eagle , and the other moderators positions in wanting to keep this a free speech area, but the blatant racism is what really did me in (and we covered that in the PSA thread ad naseum). I don't take things to heart, but I also don't really want to be part of a community on the internet with people that think like that and think it's OK to post that shit, just like I wouldn't accept it in real life. Maybe my tolerance for racism is too short

I honestly don't know what I would change about TCG. I am one person, with seemingly my own complaints and misgivings. I would say they are hardly indicative of a whole group of people on here, and I wouldn't want anything changed because of such a small minority, as there are plenty of people that enjoy the site and community as it sits today, and I'm not one to deprive anyone of that. I'd love to keep contributing, but I'm keeping a short leash on myself for my own reasons. I know that my hiatus wasn't completely related to the site (although certain aspects kind of help make that decision easier); life gets complicated and busy as we get older, and sometimes the time to dedicate just isn't there.

Sorry for the long and fairly pointless rant, but just wanted to throw my .02 in there

I'm Wheaton based (So more Fox Valley area, not a million miles north) and live on a Cult-de-sac; and have a decent sized yard with a fire pit and grill. I could offer up for a gathering once it gets nice out again. @Mook @Eagle remind me when it gets warmer out I'd happily step up to host.

I've racked my brain on how to handle the perception there. Just as you've expressed your feelings, I've expressed mine. I almost couldn't find a way... but then I thought about something. Friends hold friends accountable. If something is viewed as racist, first PM that person. I've always been told if you have a problem, you first speak to that INDIVIDUAL. If that doesn't solve the issue amicably, you escalate. If escalation was required, rather than calling on your favorite mod to make a decision, call it to a vote by calling out the content in a new thread and putting a poll up. Any more than say 5 votes in favor of content being racist and content is removed by a mod. There's always the chance that a mod steps in before that thread needs to happen, but at least this gives everyone a chance to call something to everyone's attention and the group decides how to handle it.

Obviously this could be abused and would need moderator common sense applied, but could possibly work?

Not a complaint, but for members to take into consideration.

Focusing on four or more lengthy paragraphs, not 35 words.

I can agree on the racism. I have no trouble with the idea of calling out poor cultures but to associate them with an entire race is intellectually dishonest IMO. If the idea can stand on its own legs race should have nothing to do with it.

In terms of liberalism I think that the center's getting pushed out most everywhere. To me that's unhealthy. I think that is deeply hurtful to the country. I am also of the belief that what is shown here is not isolated, but a reflection of a lot of things happening in society right now.
