Man, United picked the wrong target to drag down their aisle. They would have been better off to drag a grandma or a nun.

Dr. Dao is familiar with the legal system after being suspended for writing prescriptions for alleged addicts and for sex. He also is a former professional poker player. Both of these experiences will have toughened Dao up (despite his screaming like a girl). He's a nightmare for a defense attorney to face.

Speaking of attorneys, Dao has already hired noted Chicago personal injury attorney Thomas Demetrio.

From wikipedia:
Quote:
The National Law Journal named him one of the top ten lawyers in the nation [1] and one of the top ten trial lawyer in Illinois [2] and since its inception in 2005, Lawdragon has named him one of the top 500 Leading Lawyers in America.[3] He served as the president of the Chicago Bar Association and president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.[4] He is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Quote:
Meanwhile, David Dao, the passenger at the center of the growing imbroglio, retained a high-powered Chicago personal injury lawyer, Thomas Demetrio.

Dao was in a Chicago hospital undergoing treatment for his injuries Tuesday, according to a statement from Demetrio, who is helping represent Dao and his family.

Demetrio's practice centers on medical negligence, product liability, airplane crash and commercial litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and he has negotiated more than $1 billion in settlements, according to the firm's website.

To make things even worse for United, the Chinese version of Twitter has had over 100 million views on this topic. Most Chinese are saying "discrimination" and "don't fly United because they attack Chinese".

United has been expanding into China and will suffer a serious setback over the dragged Chinese doctor incident.

Quote:
(CNN)A public relations disaster for United Airlines is transforming into an international incident in one of its most important markets.

Video of a passenger being dragged off a Chicago-Louisville flight, bloodying his nose and leaving him dazed in the process, has gone viral online in China, attracting tens of thousands of outraged posts.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was overheard saying he was being profiled for being Chinese, a passenger told CNN, before police officers forcibly removed him from his seat on the overbooked flight.
'Discrimination'
The incident, which unfolded on Sunday, was the number one trending topic Tuesday on Weibo, China's answer to Twitter, attracting more than 100 million views.
Many commenters called for a boycott of United, accusing the airline of discriminating against the passenger because he is Chinese.
"It's straight up discrimination," one widely shared post said, while another commenter said they would never "fly with United again in my lifetime."

Oscar saying he will NOT resign. Sounds like he's also really laying on the apologies now.

United CEO Oscar Munoz: We won't let police drag people off planes anymore - Apr. 12, 2017

Quote:
On Wednesday, he said United did not give its managers "the proper tools, policies, procedures" they needed to use "common sense."

Speaking of his employees, Munoz said: "They all have an incredible amount of common sense, and this issue could have been solved by that."

"That's on me. I have to fix that," he added.

Munoz was widely criticized for two earlier statements, including one in which he described the passenger as "disruptive and belligerent."

On Wednesday, Munoz said he did not blame the passenger, and added that his initial comments "fell short" of what he felt. He also said he had no plans to resign.

"It's not so much what I thought, it's what I felt," he told ABC. "Probably the word 'ashamed' comes to mind."

All three, Munoz, the United manager (who has not yet been identified or interviewed, probably hiding in a bathroom somewhere) and the security officer (who is on leave of absence), will probably be terminated. Stockholders will be pushing hard for revenge.

United is going to have to settle this for a LOT of money or risk having one of the best personal injury attorneys in the country cross examine all three of them. It would be a bloodbath on the witness stand.

I should copyright "Bloodbath on the Witness Stand" just in case.

BTW, to respond to the "this guy is elderly?" comment earlier in the thread, Dao is 69.

Gun Control is a constitutional issue and highly polarizing. This is a consumer issue and it seems like it's something that's struck a nerve with the public. The Government regulated how long passengers can wait on the tarmac about 10 years ago, so who knows.

I assume training, firing of PR department heads etc, Possible higher ups stepping down if this continues to go down and down.
That would be the Chicago Police Department. The officers involved were part of the "Aviation Department".

Shit happens... they had to swap plans due to mechanical failure. Should we feel sorry he got bumped to coach? They offered compensation.

I hope his business trip to Hawaii for a "conference" wasn't ruined.

"Struck a nerve" because of videos of ONE incident that really had zero to do with overbooking. Social media gets bored with this shit very quickly and moves on to something else they can show outrage about.

The Government regulated how long passengers could sit on the tarmac because it was becoming a huge problem and was getting to inhumane levels of confinement with bathrooms out of service and no food or beverage left.

Overbooking rarely bumps non volunteers off of planes. The volunteers that do get bumped, are compensated. 99.9% of the time there are no issues.

Chris Christie is just looking for votes.

The fallout continues...

The Chicago Department of Aviation says two more officers have been placed on administrative leave after a Kentucky doctor was dragged off a United flight Sunday.

One officer was placed on leave Monday, one day after the incident. CDA said it will not release the names of the officers.
