A little update here.

I'm up to $25,000 in profit now. So a little over $3,000 up from my last update on the 15th. $1000 of that is unrealized (still holding) so that's not locked it yet but I'm all but certain it should be another $1000 - $2000 in the next couple of days.

I bailed on Tim Sykes. I'm not saying trading penny stocks doesn't work but I wasn't getting enough good information from the service. It was just daily videos of Tim repeating himself, making mistakes that contradicted his own teaching, sending really spammy emails and then the capper was the fact that for a month he was trying to get people to sign up for his yearly seminar for a discounted rate of $300 and for the better part of a month that deal was ending in a few days. So the deal was good until this friday and then magically it was good until the next Monday and then it was good until the next Wednesday and then he said they forgot to update the site so the discount pricing was still up there. I'm not an idiot. It takes but a moment to update a price on your site. It was pretty obvious the interest in his seminar was tepid and it was kind of insulting to my intelligence that he thought his subscribers were stupid enough to believe a month's worth of excuses for why the early bird discount didn't go away despite him assuring us it was worth $1000+. I hate marketing like that. And sure enough, the early bird pricing applied right up until registration was closed, or so it appeared to me.

The biggest thing I've eliminated is large losses. My last lost was $200 and I don't think I've had a loss of over $200 in a few months. Either I'm pretty good at this or I'm just really lucky. I'm averaging $5000 a month though. Hard to complain about that.

A few friends of mine are professional traders, and I've been really wanting to dabble here and there. My one buddy recently made a killing off of a few options trades on Yahoo and Wells Fargo, and I was the one that tipped him off about Yahoo when I saw the news starting to break in the NetSec crowd before the mainstream media ran with it.

So I may pick their brains for a while and give it a shot with a smallish account.

What happened? I just took a look at the chart and it's not even worth picking up with the discount because it was trading at less than this just a couple weeks ago. Without looking I'm assuming some people bought into the idea of a buyout and those rumors got put to rest today?

exactly. Shot up due to the rumors and then Google, Apple and another big player came out and said NAY.....dropped 20%.

Scottrade primarily. Cheap trades, streaming quotes on the app and computer, afterhours/ premarket trading, etc. I think all the big guys are pretty much the same and there are benefits to having accounts with multiple brokers because it's easier to avoid day trading limitations if that's what you're going to be doing.

Ahhhhh, cool. I'll check those out. With my wife being ill and off of work for a while now with no end in sight. I'd like to start and try to make some small gains here and there. Thanks for the info.

No worries. If you have ay questions don't hesitate to ask. I've gotten a couple people into it and you don't realize all the stuff that seems so basic that someone new might not know.

Tesla reported their earnings today and posted a profit. So I texted my buddy to tell him I sold at $215 and he asked how I did it since the market was closed. He had no idea there was an after-hours market. It's one of those things you don't know until you stumble upon it or until someone tells you.
