Post Building a Ford 9 inch - Looking for help

Just picked up a bare third member over the weekend... Already have a housing and axles. Looking to build it on a budget over the winter...

Was thinking of just of using a Jegs or summit racing gear setup and spool... Anybody ever use them before?

never used summit or jegs brand stuff. but if theyre anything like their other "house brand" products, theyre made by a big name company.. like summit's own brand headers are made by pacesetter... jegs brand exhaust for a diesel truck is made by heartthrob

That's what I figured... Anybody to avoid?

Also, I have a 1330 u-joint at the trans and 1310 at the diff... Should I just go up to a 1350 at the diff and leave the trans? Or upgrade the trans side too?

i like to keep everything the same size. depending on power level i would just get a upgraded 1350 joint 3" diameter custom shaft made.

i couldnt tell ya who to avoid. ive never had any bad experiences with any of the major companys.

Def 1350 joints. I can't believe that 1310 hasn't exploded

Elgin Driveline for custom driveshaft work, but its been a few years since I went there.

You want someone to build the center, or you looking to do it?

Well, it helps that those pizza cutter tires can't even attempt to give him any traction.

now you understand why I'm so hesitant to take it to the track! I've done a bunch in the past... But it's been almost 10 years lol - considering I just rebuilt the Subaru trans and it's still going strong, I think I'll give this a shot

9 in are easy. The side bearings are adjustable. Just use all the right specs, and get a good gear pattern, you'll be golden.

at least you choose one of the easier centersections....using a case spreader is great but when you don't have one and you sorta need one it f****** sucks.
thankfully I've learned some awesome tips and tricks over the years
