Are you ready for some (more) football?

The new AAF season kicks off tonight at 8 P.M. Eastern time/7 P.M. Central on CBS.

Each player in the league signed a 3 year contract for $250K plus bonuses.

No kickoffs.

No TV timeouts.

Overtime is different.

Games are supposed to take 2 1/2 hours.

AAF Co founder Bill Polian, Kurt Warner and the hot woman host are pushing the idea that this is going to be a developmental league for the NFL. I didn't catch the female host's name but she is hot.

All the coaches have NFL experience. Mike Singletary is one of them.

I'm a little psyched about this. Hope it doesn't suck.

Steve Spurrier is coach of the Orlando Apollos. Don't like Orlando much but it is a Florida team so...

Hynes Ward is on camera now. He's involved in the league, too. Lot of known names behind this league.

You get to see the replay official watching and talking about the call as they make it. Pretty cool.

16-3 Orlando so far.

It's not NFL but it's not terrible.

Orlando is cranking. 40-6 with 2 mins left. Spurrier's team is far superior to Atlanta.

The idea of being a development league might catch on. This would be a fill in for the summer. They're not trying to compete with the NFL.

Poorly marketed, poorly advertised and relying on the NFL for a boost?

Sad to say, not a good formula for a new league.

Seemed like it was working fine except for this last part. Why do you NEED to be a development league? NFL players don't have long careers so such a league will probably next exist.

The bosses of the new league tried to do it cheaply. They canceled the Friday dinners and replaced them with $30 vouchers for the players. They didn't give the players airfare for the planes home after the league folded.

Not enough cash on hand to keep the league going.
