My dad has a helix 9 and a helix 7 on his boat, I like them a lot. Thought about buying one for ice fishing and kayak double duty

I fished salt creek under 294 and at Grau mill after work. The water was up a few feet and full of all kinds of debris. Spent probably an hour total fishing with nothing

Driving up to far northwest Michigan for a week. The lake we stay on sucks for fishing. There are a couple little ponds and creeks in the area that are decent, but it's usually just panfish and little BS. A couple years ago GF pulled out a monster smallie (4ish pounds) out of a little creek on an ultra light rod and reel with 4 pound test (I primarily use that rod for panfish and trout.) We might go out exploring and see if we can't find a little lake. Not bringing the kayaks up this year though. Too much of a hassle, especially where there's a place in town we can rent them for cheap.

Went out for a little bit at lunch. All I was able to pull in was a few bluegill.
One I felt back for. Half of it's tail was missing and it had a rather large gash across the top of it's body. Something was looking to snack on him.

18 inch Bass on a ultra lite rod / reel today in the local pond. Kids also landed some bluegill.

2 weeks back, same pond, daughter landed a 16 inch Bass

And other daughter landed a 12 inch Bass

Went out for awhile yesterday and the day before up here (far northwest Michigan.) Saturday night got into some rock bass on a Hula Popper. Last night hit up some culverts along a creek/river in the area. Decent for smallies, perch, and some other panfish. Had two big hits from smallies on a little Rapala bleeding minnow. No hookups. Then saw a mid-20’s Northern just sort of hanging out by the entrance of the culvert, but he wasn’t interested in much I was throwing his way. Going to try to go out for a bit again tonight. See if we can’t get into some more smallies. All the ponds/lakes/rivers up here have almost no public shore access, and without a boat almost impossible to fish. Even the ponds/lakes are mostly private, which sucks. The lake we stay on isn’t maintained/stocked at all, so fish populations are pretty small. There are some giant Browns and Lakers from what I hear, but they are few and far between.

Fishing behind work in the pond during lunch again. I caught the same catfish I caught two weeks ago. I know this because the hook was extremely stuck in its head and I couldn't remove it without killing it. I trimmed away what I could of it that day. Today I reel this fish in and sure as shit, the hook was still there. I was able to remove it today and set this little guy free. Maybe tomorrow I'll catch him for the third time.

Lake 21 in Cloverdale, MI. It's a private lake, huge bass. Biggest I've caught is 7lb10oz...but there are bigger I haven't landed. Lots of weeds/lilypads...so I use 20# braided on giant frogs and mice. Drag them over the pads. Early spring we use Rapala's...but they don't bite until the water is really warm. Big Black Crappie too.

Working late today but making sure to stop and fish for an hour or so. It’s been too long. Thinking about going somewhere this weekend too. Maybe steal my dad’s boat and take a decent drive somewhere

Since it was 95* on Friday I decided it would be good to shop for some ice fishing gear.

Brand new clam legend xl flip over shanty. Missing the tent though. Guy said they bought it for his dad a couple years ago and it just hung in the garage.

$20 on OfferUp

New insulated tent from clam is $219

The whole thing new costs $479
