Those of us with flat feet are a special breed. We don't have arches and subsequently McDonalds laughs when we order food.

So now let's move on. Do you have any shoe preferences? Back in HS when I ran a lot (Cross Country and Track) I used to wear Brooks Beasts and I may go back there but they are quite expensive and if possible I'd like to spend a little less as this will not be shoes that will be getting that much mileage. Some jogging and other cardio.

Suggestions?

In closing if you have arches, I envy you.

Flat footer here, along with my daughter and wife. They have prescription inserts for their shoes from a podiatrist. I should, but dont. Just wear my New Balances and those keep the pain down.

I had them back in the day and I was not a fan for athletics. For day to day sure, but then just stopped getting them because normal day to day didn't seem to merit them.

I hear ya. My daughter uses them when she does soccer. She says she has no problems, but I sometimes wonder if she would know the difference between what she has and something better.

My wife has flat feet and is a fitness specialist (teaches zumba, spin, bootcamp etc etc etc) and she runs 1/2 marathons. When she wants new shoes or wants to mix up the styling or brand we go to Dick Pond Athletics, when she needs new running shoes we go to Geneva Running Outfitters. It's best to have someone look at your feet and how you walk/stand/pivot etc, it worked wonders for my wife and her feet don't hurt nearly as much and that's even after a race.

Look into the Reebok Crossfit Nano and I'm pretty sure the Nike crossfit shoes have shallow arches.
