💦 Detailing Polishing question- dust?

I bought a kit from Autogeek like a month ago+. Just getting around to trying it out.

Using menzerna 2400 for a polish, the car has swirls and what I can only call microfiber scratches.

Anyways, as you can see in the pics, the product is dusting like crazy. Should I be keeping the pad wet with a light mist of water?

I'm doing 6 section passes and then moving after cleaning up the dust.

I have heard that putting some extra mineral oil in the polish helps reduce dust and increase work time. I just let it dust and cleaned it off with the final wipe down of eraser to prep the paint before final products.

I need to revisit the electric leaf blower now that I have a few coats of wax on the car and it stays beaded up longer. I wash my car at my parents place and they have hard water so it spots pretty badly if you don't get it dry quickly.

Dusting is usually is something produced by the product and not the process, some products dust more than others. Although you can reduce dusting by not overworking the polish, not saturating the pad with polish, cleaning the pad during use, and using multiple pads.

Six section passes shouldn't be over working the polish right?

Priming the pad helps cut down dust some. What pad are you using? My experience with Menzerna polishes and compounds is that they dust, but it's worth it.

Not typically, but that depends on pressure being applied and RPM of the unit. Just try to monitor your work, I usually work until the product hazes over and then starts to disappear with each pass.

Try wolfgang swirl remover 3.0 dusts less and works well one step on the ceramic clear on our cars. It will remove micro and water spot etching. Use the uber if more correction is needed. I use an orange 5.5 inch lake county pad with the 3.0 and the results are flawless one step.

menzerna dusts a ton. I used the nano polish a few years ago. Had a big bottle of it. Procedure was to wash the car, polish it, then wash it again...lol No joke. You really need the Meguires M105 and M205. Way less dust, same great abilities and WAY cheaper. I have 3/4 bottles of both if you want them. Free if you make the drive down here to Crystal Lake. Otherwise Advanced auto stocks them. I'd never use menzerna for that dusting reason ever again.

If not just take it to a spray wash place like I used to and just do the spot free rinse on it. That should get all the dust off of all the hard to reach places, and you can dry it up nice.

Water Sprite is the best by far! I would usually wipe entire car down with QD if dusting was out of control, such a pain in the ass though.

Don't people use some sort of 50 percent isopropyl solution to wipe down after polishing? My brother uses it at some stage but I forgot what for.

Seems like it does a very good job of removing any remaining treatment/material that might be on the paint. Also aids in getting a cleaner surface to inspect after polishing.

I used a similar product called carpro eraser. This shit works amazing. Smells awesome too. Like licorice.
