^^^exactly! I have mine for two years and it went from 5" to 25" in that time span. the thing could barley turn around in my tank. They eat a freaking ton too!

Unless you have a a 300+ gallon tank its irresponsible to try to keep one of these in captivity. They live like 20-30 year in the wild but probably wont last 5 years in a typical tank. Sad.

It is, its depressing as fuck. There are just a lot of better options for a cool aquarium cat. Its like getting a wolf rather than a dog. Not responsible. Sure its just a fish but why perpetuate it. These fish are all taken from the wild. To put it into perspective, this thing can eat a full grown oscar in a gulp when mature.

Ill give you $20 to just donate it to an aquarium if you can find one to take it.
