Hey guys,

I am not well known on Chicagosvt, but some of you have seen my car before in it’s stage one level before I modified all the audio/video stuff again and took the car apart.

I have come to the difficult decision to sell my Cobra project car.

Here is your chance to own and finish one of the most radical Cobra's out there for pennies on the dollar! You can continue what I have started or it is at a good stage to take it to another level or a different direction if you wish.

This is my 15,000 mile black 2004 Cobra that doesn't have a scratch on it. It has been disassembled in my garage. Engine is out and seats are out. Suspension needs to be reassembled, driveline needs reassembly, engine and transmission need to be mated and re-installed. It's not going to go back together in a weekend but all in all, it's pretty basic assembly left to do to get it running again. To do it right, there will be some minor fabrication involved in mounting the air compressor tank, etc. but not anything someone on here can’t handle.

Unless I am forgetting something, it only needs the following parts to be complete:
- hood ($300-$700)
- front L & R fenders ($400-$800)
- clutch and flywheel ($300-$1000)

So, minus labor, this car could be complete for probably $1000 to $3000.

For those that don't know the car, by now you are asking so why $25k for a Cobra that has to be put back together? Because this car includes over $36,000 in documented parts and over $14,000 in custom installations!!!! This car has numerous one-off, unique parts and modifications. Here are some of the highlights of the vehicle:

- has a 17” monitor where the back seat used to be, all flushed in
- has 2 monitors fit into the side windows of the car that cannot be seen (from the inside or the outside) until they are turned on
- Alpine DVD headunit with Alpine navigation, JL Audio sub and amplifier, top of the line Boston Acoustics speakers, etc.
- has a trick, swing-out fuel door operated from the key fob (different than one seen in close-up picture)
- has an air suspension system that will drop it low or raise it 5” to clear speed bumps. And the suspension was designed for handling, not just looks
- has a hidden XBOX and a separate audio/video system in the trunk to play at car shows
- has a lighted SVT sign under the trunk lid
- the entire chassis has been stiffened and modified for performance
- the IRS has been strengthened with every product available including level 5 half-shafts. I built this car with the intention of 700-1000hp.
- it has a full compliment of high end Autometer gauges that are LED lit and change colors with an included controller. You can change out gauges by simply plugging in the new one.
- has over $5000 in wheels and tires. The wheels are 3 piece forged wheels. The wheels can be narrowed or widened anytime by bolting on new inner/outer wheel lips. The tires are the stickiest available in a handling tire and are what come on Porsches
- rear fender lips have been rolled
- black powdercoated engine and suspension front and rear
- car starts by pushing a button, not by turning the key and has a Viper alarm system
- full Bassani exhaust, Maximum Motorsports front end, upgraded brake rotors and pads, all rubber bushings throughout the car replaced with urethane, etc,. etc., etc.

Even if you could care less for any of the audio/video or cosmetic upgrades, this car still has over $19k in performance/handling parts and you could sell the audio/video stuff. I will consider imaginative counter offers and will consider parting the car out if no one wants to buy the entire package. I could make more money this way but don't want to do the work involved in parting it out unless I have no other option.

I will sell the car with all the following parts shown in the list for $27,000.

All vehicle trades will be considered as well. But they would have to include cash or assuming of current loan on Cobra.

Should also mention that this car has a full factory warranty till 2010 through Ford and a warranty on all the audio-video work till 2010 through Tweeter!

To make the deal even sweeter, I called Ford and my current loan on the car is assumable!!! I have ~$13,000 left to pay on the car loan which is a 0% interest loan!! Then you would only need another $12-16k in cash.

I have tons of pics of this car, just ask and I will try to post them. Also please PM me or call me for details as there is a lot to know about this vehicle. I promise you there is nothing wrong with this car, it is flawless with all the right upgrades. I have been asked by some why the hood and fenders are missing. I was going to go with a custom hood and custom front fenders and splitter from tiger-racing.com so had sold those parts after I took them off. I am building a 1992 LX and cannot afford to finish both so the Cobra has to go. This car is a steal for the right guy. And yes, I really did spend this much on the car :-(

Here is a breakdown of the upgrades I have down into 3 categories; performance, a/v, and bling:

Wow thats alot of stuff but alot of work also... GL.

Yeah, getting it just back to running would not take too much but putting it all back together with audio/video intact, air ride, etc. will take some work. But hey, it allows you to build it how you want it. I wish I had started with this, would have saved my tens of thousands of dollars :)

Why are you letting it go/stopping the project? Something else in mid?

Embarassed to say I need the money. I am also building a 1992 LX to a pretty extreme level and am basically forced to pick between the 2. The LX is closer to being done and is the more practical vehicle. Trying to make the wife happy basically. I will probably cry when it's gone but it is killing me right now to look at it everyday knowing I do not have the time/money to finish it properly. I want ot see someone finish it. It was essentially sold already to a good freind and Mustang builder but he was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week so that changed everything.

Man I wish I could take you up on that, I would love to have a Lightning. If the wife decides to let me trade I will let you know. And don't get the idea I am whipped :) NO one who is whipped spends this kind of money on their cars :) Just trying to be good :)

is that a clean title car? why does it need fenders and hood? was it in a collision?.otherwise a really nice car.

I was waiting for this kind of question. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I assure you and many, many people from chicagolandmustang.com can back this up that this is a perfect car. I put the answer in my first post but I know it is alot of reading :) . I have sold alot of the stock parts because I had not intention of going back to stock. I was going with an aftermarket carbon fiber hood and tiger-racing.com fenders and splitter before I decide to kill the project. In fact, awhile back tiger-racing made the splitter for the car and probably still have it available.

Was the whipple on the car at one time. If so, how many miles and what kind of boost. I didn't read your whole thread so I might be asking questions that you already answered.

No, Whipple was sold before ever installing. It used to have a cog system that has been replaced by a more reliable Reichard Racing belt system. It is tuned and dynoed for 460rwhp currently. But that was with a Billetflow throttle body which I no longer have but which could be easily replaced by another Billetflow or Accufab.

 Very tempting...
?Hey Chad (qwik01cobra) - how much to put her back together (before winter, would like some seat time in 08)?

Is the engine back together?
Did you have any extra performance work done to it while it was out of the car?

:alcoholic

That engine has not been touched internally. It was taken out of the car to put the headers on easily and to powdercoat the engine parts. The only performance work was installing the headers. It won't take much to put eninge back together, basically putting covers back on, pulleys, lowering into place, plugging wires back in and plumbing back up.

I promised pictures of the audio-video setup and here they are:

First, here is the interior with all of the guages on and the front DVD screen active. In the lower right of the picture you can see the guage controller. The guages go through a very cool startup sequence and can be changed to many colors via LED lighting. They can record and even can pull up minimum and maximum readings. One of my favorite features is that they can be set to blink red if they reach a pre set limit.

You can see the Gtech in this picture on top of the dash and the numerous guages. There is a lit up plexiglass terminator peice above the stereo and an SVT Terminator light up panel above the Gtech. Theses can be turned on/off seperately via switches.

If you are an audo video enthusiast and also love guages, this car will amaze you.

cobra6.jpg

cobra1.jpg

Here is the awesome back seat video panel. The original back seat does come with the car but has been replaced by a 17" flat panel LCD monitor that is contoured and flushed into the back seat and connected to the in-dash DVD system. This can be turned on and off via a seperate switch.

The bottom panels have 2 plexiglass panels. The right one is a storage compartment. The left one houses the secondary battery and amplifier temperature guages as shown in the second picture.

cobra7.jpg

cobra5.jpg

Here is the amazing trunk. When you open the trunk lid you first see a large SVT logo done in vinyl. It lights up via expensive EL lighting that is paper thin.

The bottom panel houses a seperate sound system (Clarion) with Boston Acoustic speakers in a custom molded fiberglass housing painted VW silver. The center panel also houses a 10" LCD screen that can be used to play the XBOX that is hidden behind the center panel and controlled wirelessly via XBOX controllers!!!! The sound system is behind a semi-mirrored panel and controlled via a remote control. This car is state of the art!

cobra2.jpg

This is what is underneath those trunk panels. The only 2 things that are missing to make this system complete are a JL Audio 500/5 amp and some sort of standard box to house the 10" JL Audio subwoofer that is included. All of this stuff is currently disconnected but every single wire was labeled to assist in putting the system back together.

cobra4.jpg

This is one of my favorite and most unique parts of this amazing car. Each side window was professionaly modified to house an Alpine 7" widescreen. These screens cannot be seen from the inside and have been beautifully built in. They also are cleverly hidden behind the 5% window tint and cannot be seen until they are turned on. As you can see, once they are turned on, they transmit through perfectly. All of this equipment was designed by myself and Kyle of Tweeter at Fox Valley.

cobra3.jpg

I have numerous other pictures and could go on and on about this car but you get the idea. Any questions, please contact me via PM or directly at 815-462-6615. Chris
