I asked my cousin about that and he said he never does it. My problem is with clutch engagement. I am right handed so my fine motor skills in my left side are lacking. lol

Starting in second will still make it less violently jerky with the clutch engagement being sloppy. The wider ratio can help.

The way I always taught stick to people was to have them spend basically a full hour just doing starting from a stop with first gear by just getting it rolling off the friction point over and over and over. Everything past that is Gravy IMO.

I tried doing that this morning and it was very helpful.

The car is not going to be "stored" but it isn't going to be out in the snow. I am keeping it on the insurance and if it is like it is today the car will be out and about. The Suburban will be on snow duty.
