I had one a long time ago. They are often way over-priced because of perceived collectability. What I mean is people think they must be worth a lot because they only made about 1200 of them and they were for NASCAR homogulation. But when come time to find a buyer, no one is willing shell out what people think they are worth.

They are like Hot Air Grand Nationals (1984/85) - cool cars, but they don't have the top tier drivetrain that commands the big money. Not only did the 2+2 have a 305, but it was the low output 305. Pontiac couldn't justify the EPA testing required to put the Monte SS's HO 305 in a low production car.

I loved the looks and handling, but it was way underpowered. The trunk is useless.

Great car for a LS swap or Buick V6 swap. And keep the paint scheme, but in some other color than grey. Way too many were keep in pristine condition to justify restoring either of these, IMO.

Monte Aerocoupe was two years BTW.
