When not in use, it was covered to prevent any possible sun damage or dust (and is currently covered in our basement to keep dust off). I purchased this brand new directly from the UK in August 2013. NOTE this is the 'standard' size seat and not the wider GT seat. I would say up to 34" waist size fits comfy in this. (in comparison, someone with a 44" waist needs the wider GT version seat which this seat will not work for that person)
We have this same seat (just an older more worn version) in our current Infiniti G20 race car and love it!
Initial thought was to just save and store this until we get something else to put it in but figured it best to get some cash flow back instead now and worry about a seat if/when we get something else in a year or 2 or 3.
The only sign of wear is from mounting (used literally half a dozen times since purchase and install/uninstall)

Yes it has the genuine FIA hologram and is not a fake seat (went directly to COBRA in the UK to custom order it last year)
