I really don't think that near-stock versions can be considered "unreliable." My family has had 3 Typhoon's, the other two both were daily driven through all weather conditions including Chicago winters and up to the 130-140k mile range. None of them ever have let us down to this day, with the worst problem being our 93 Typhoon which had to have a trans rebuild at about 100k miles. Other than that, they've only required routine maintenance.

Mileage wise, they're comparable to just about any other muscle truck meaning about mid teens in the city and high teens to as much as 20 on the highway if you can keep your foot out of it and keep from speeding too terribly much.
