Figure we could have a conversation here vs in the track time thread

What tires do you guys run?

We mostly run Dunlop Direzza's on the lemons/chump Rx7 but might make the move to Bridgestone re17r or Hankook RS3's. Harder to find the right size 15 inch wheel these days.

I run the bridgestones on the Mazda3 but haven't had time to get it to the track this year yet. Hoping to change that in the next month or so.

Maxxis now makes a 225 45 15 RC1 if that's the 15" size you use as an FYI.

We used Maxxis RC1 205 50 15 on our G20 and Miata for most of 2013 through 2015 season (with some Hoosier thrown in) and the RC1 wears like iron, is faster than an RS3 but slower than a Hoosier

If you're running the 24hr lemons I would totally stick with the Direzza, that tire never wears out after a handful of heat cycles. Every pair I go through has like 60%+ life left on them but lose their bite. Something you wouldn't notice in a lemons car though, I'm just talking 1-2 seconds/lap in my s2000. The RE's would wear out fast AF, and RS3's somewhere behind that.

Yeah only issue we have with them is they are directional vs the other options which we can rotate left to right easier. Autobahn ruins one side of tires for us after 8 hours. RA they are fine. Problem is we can only get 205 in the size we want.. RS-3 we can get 225's or we need to move up to 16 inch wheels.

Have you considered the new Maxxis VR1 with 200 treadwear then? ...just came out, order online only like RC1. Check it out!

I'm pretty sure they're all directional tires though.

i'me expecting partway through the summer that i'll need to pick up some new tires, heading towards direzza z2 star specs. i believe grassroots motorsports is currently doing their 2016 shootout. won't be surprising if tirerack has a new article out soon either i suppose!
