Our own user Digital-Nitrate has discovered an early copy of the February issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, and it’s got some pretty incredible news! Indy (“IRL”) cars have been confirmed, in addition to “weather effects, as well as night racing for all tracks”! Here’s a nice little summary of everything that’s discussed and confirmed:

  • 1,000+ vehicles
  • All vehicles have modeled cockpits (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling)
  • All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling
  • Indy (IRL) cars and tracks
  • NASCAR cars and track
  • Up to 16 players online
  • High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube
  • Multi-display rendering
  • Head-tracking
  • Full weather and night racing on all tracks
  • Night/Day on all tracks

I'm not to sure about this anymore. I will most likely buy it, but I doubt I'll be playing it all that much. It's just been so long with nothing but extensions to the release date and because of all that,....I lost A LOT of interest in it.

Like I said. I'll probably buy it, but I'd hardly play it.

the only thing that worries me at this point, is that theyre cramming soooo much extra shit into the game...especially after saying "we wont do anything half assed"...some cars now have damage, other wont. some get this, some dont. seems like theyre not focusing on the driving as much as they are "features"

yeah native hd youtube upload is going to mean a lot of yt space and bandwidth fo sho.

i was swearing a lot with keeping the base 370z on track, so was my bro and our friend who is actually good. i haven't played gt series too much but i was able to get a 2:04. my brother didn't beat that one, are buddy is under 2 minutes but i'm not sure where, i'd expect him to be beating me well though. maybe i play agains when at home, except, of course, i'm totally going to go and work out tonight.

oh geez. were you using controller or wheel? keep in mind the totally stock car has like no traction control on and some kind of sport tires on it, not r-comps. and is rwd. it's trying to actually force you to behave and drive better. some differences i have felt between gt5 pro and gt5 demo (neither of which i have played much nor am very good at):
if half your wheels are in the grass and half on the road and you brake while going straight, i don't think prologue does much to you, whereas demo will punish you (at least with that traction control off)
in prologue i have been fairly binary with the throttle; full on full off a lot of the time. in demo i found myself having to go more halfsies while rounding tighter turns and easing into the throttle while coming out of them.
lots of gas or brake in turns in demo = punishment, which is a lot more realistic.
