Yea, you're not to far from Skid Row.

Although that western part of the town is where the infamous city hall/PD building is.

Since you're close to downtown, you can go do the slide up at the top of the US Bank (Book depository) building.

Grand Central Market is walkable with plenty of food options and pretty cool place to walk around.

Otherwise get to the coast. Santa Monica is not far.

Also down toward Long Beach - The USS Iowa is pretty cool to see.

For some cool car / movie nostalgia you could make a drive to the portofino inn in redondo beach- it’s the official finish line for the cannonball run. Places to eat there too.
