Car wise? /r/4x4, /r/rally. and /r/SuzukiSamurai are all I really follow. As with most of Reddit, a lot of the car-related subs on there are full of retard college kids who don't know their ass from their elbow(but are overly-confident).

The abbreviations is just their way of having forum categories.

Like off topic for us would just be r/offtopic on reddit.

Meets would be r/meets
Auto news would be r/autonews

Etc...

It is just a big forum. Each r/ is the category and people post threads under the category they are interested in to keep it somewhat organized.
