41 is much better on Sunday morning T & T's.
The fri & sat might be too ghetto and make the kid nervous.

I give the same tip every time this subject is posted,
bring the kid to the track without a car and make him watch for a couple of hours and explain what is going on.

Just last Sunday they had a kid that didn't even know how to stage??
The starter had to stick his head in the window and teach him what to do!!!

Make sure your kid knows what we are doing & why.
I would bring him up to the golf cart parking and let him watch the cars doing a burnout & staging.
Make sure you drive him down the return road during a break, so he knows what it looks like down there.
Make damn sure he knows how to leave the track.
I would suggest he stays in the left lane, just so he doesn't panic & turn off into the other guy.

Not sure what car you have, but I assume it's a slow street car???
I would ask if he can make 1-2 singles 1st, just to eliminate some variables!!!
Then let him run other cars, so he knows how that is also!!!!

When I help new guys, I circle his number so every one knows he's a new driver.

Good luck, have fun & race safe.

It's a low 12 car, he knows how to drive it. I only have off on Sunday-Tuesday. I want a good time out of the car; so I'm driving too. I assume we would both have to pay a driver fee...and I would bring his brother with, but he's only 14.

Only other time they've been to the track was to watch the jet cars run at 66. It was a few years ago, but they had a good time.

Jack (my oldest) went to a few events with me when he was really young, so I doubt he remembers. He went to his first race with me in OH when he was 2.

The only track that's ever checked the driver is RT 66.
I had some stupid lady jump in front of my car as I pulled into the water,
made me take off my glove and show her my wrist band???
If you go to 41 it will be 1 driver entry the rest spectator.
My crew chief has brought his son several times and both drove, zero extra money!!

If the kid has been before, just give him a little tutorial at home.
I still suggest he stays in the left lane, just to be extra safe.

Good advice, he probably would get excited. I remember what it was like my first time...and I was 27-28 at the time.

GLD will be packed on Saturday and Sunday with plenty of Cool Spectator stuff to watch, they'll let you run in-between all the stuff going on. You might get a few passes in but it will be infront of a big crowd... If your looking to take your time and get some actual passes in for a first timer I'd say go Monday if you're thinking of going up to GLD.

US41 has test and tune on Sunday and it looks like the weather is going to be dry down there. If I'm able to get my car back together on Saturday, I'd like to try to get out there on Sunday morning for some test and tune.

The advice above is spot on. Make sure he understands how the staging beam works. Also, staging etiquette. Don't double bulb while the other guy hasn't left the burnout box yet. The lane on the exit side always exits first. If he's in the right lane and gets there first, stop and wait until the other car slows down and makes the turn.

Also, if he pulls up next to a much faster car, tell him to pause and just let it go. That way if a high horsepower car gets loose, it's down the track already and he can avoid it.
