Island Lake does free mulch for residents from all the fucking ash trees they're grinding up. I'll start there.

They're definitely diseased trees that are getting ground up as well as whatever else. Free mulch is free mulch. Shit, I'll probably have the remainder of my ash trees torn down this summer and ground up to use as mulch.

That was the biggest thing I had done in my back yard when it was done, not a single square spot in the yard, all the beds have a curve to them so I don't have to get off the mower.

Years of neglect have finally stopped my Craftsman rider. Probably bought it 12+ years ago and it hasn't given me any problems except for battery replacement every two/three years.

I think the carb got gummed up over the winter. My kid isn't as good about putting stabil in the gas and the tank was low when it was put away.

Time for the carb/filter/plug/oil change tune up to try to get a few more years out of the Briggs and Stratton.

I gotta head out to Sears/Ace today to try to find a carb bowl gasket for a 12 y.o. Briggs and Stratton.

whats the model of the machine?
and possibly the model of engine/carb?

use partstree.com to find the part you need, then search that p/n on amazon and ebay.

It's a Craftsman DLT 3000

18.5 hp Briggs and Stratton

It's hard to read the carb model #. Something 904 L2, I think. 0904 L2, maybe.

I was going to bring the carb and remainder of the gasket in and try to match it up.

Looks like a new carb is around $50. Cleaning this one is a pain in the ass $10 or so.

Hard to tell if this is the correct carb on ebay. Their pics suck. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-...daepdx&vxp=mtr

Here's mine:

EDIT: Looks like it's a Walbro 697202 model. It's available on both Ebay and Amazon for $44 plus shipping. If I can't get the original back together and working I will pick one up.

Anyway, funny thing is, the OP is posting about PUSH mowers and all you are posting riders and ZTR's.
24 years old? That's cute. I'm still running a Honda HR214 from the late 80's. It even changes it's own oil once a month.

Yeah, the mower is a Craftsman so they MIGHT have the gasket set I need. If not, Ace Hardware, another name from the past, is next then the neighborhood equipment and repair shop is third.

I better get off the computer and get moving so I get the "day" guy at Sears.

EDIT: Ha Ha. I called Sears and got a young lady who has no idea what a carburetor is. She asked an older guy and I could hear neither of them had a clue. Oh, Sears. How far you have fallen. On to ACE.

Re-EDIT: Lady on the phone at ACE does know what a carburetor gasket is but says they don't carry them. Suggests a mower repair shop or the manufacturer. Not a bad answer.

Re-Re-EDIT: I finally needed to order the gaskets from Briggs and Stratton. Cost more for shipping than it did for the gaskets.

Well, in all honesty, I can't say any woman in my life would know what a carburetor is either.

So would mine, but she's not in the statistical majority. Back in the day, she had a '71 Formula 455 SD with 4 speed, and then a 75 T/A 455 4 spd.

If I were to ask my Wife if she knew what a "Carb" was, she'd say, "No, I'm not counting my carbs..."
