And the next owner will probably not have to spend a dime on it for 5 years because it is basically a new car with all the new parts on it.

The kid is cute too. IS that his first Teddy Bear? I don't have much from my youth, but I still have the bear my Dad gave me the day I was born.

Take a 2012 or newer lexus isf for a drive. It is seriously under rated and makes for a great DD and not to mention the R word. Bullet proof.

Jared (i think that's his name) probably would have said that same thing a week ago, before an unexpected $550 problem. I understand your argument though, it's just a roll of the dice. It's all personal preference...lose $ on depreciation for a more reliable vehicle, or risk spending money on repairs for an older vehicle.

He has so many teddy bears that it's ridiculous, lol. my wife loves stuffed animals. Thanks for saying that though..I hadn't thought of it that way. We'll have to pick one to make his "main" bear so he can keep it for a long time. It'll probably be that big one.

What else is prone to failure on those high mile bmw's? HPFP, turbos, injectors, ignition coils. How's the suspension and trans?

Oh for sure. But I am sure he will tell you the same thing, that car has had all the known issues & expensive repairs done. But that car might also be jinxed and it might keep failing parts left and right. Reliability is kind of a big deal haha

My bear was always in my room growing up. I didn't appreciate what it really was until I was in high school maybe. It is something I will always have. And I'm not a sentimental person either. lol

At least it won't be a driveline failure that takes me out

Those are the main ones. Coils and plugs on a modded 335i are like a yearly thing. lol The increased cylinder pressure takes them out quicker than normal. They are really easy to do and not too expensive. The other issues seem to be leaking valve cover, leaking oil pan, water pump, and VANOS solenoids.

The suspension isn't bad. Mine had 110K and only had a few small issues. Drove fine but I had a squeak so I knew I had at least a bad bushing. Two up front were kind of worn. But you can buy the parts from the OE supplier very reasonably. My rear suspension is still all stock. Trans and rear ends are not problematic. Some cars had turbo issues and an issue and a recall. Other than that I doubt it is that common.

Likely front suspension and/or brake failure, followed by airbags failing to deploy (if you even have airbags after the last wreck)

Wish youd scrap that thing...I fear for your safety
