Something different for you fellas.

Well I did it again. I modded another Orient Mako. I bought two mint orange Orient Mako's stupid cheap. Not too many modded Makos out there while compared to Seiko SKX's.

I simply bought a new coined edge bezel and AR coated domed sapphire crystal from Yobokies. I picked up a lumed ceramic bezel insert from Lumed Cermaic Bezel Inserts. I bought the strap from Deep Blue. I love their Hydro 91 straps. They are simply the best period!

I sent out the Case, both bezels and crowns to Motorcity Watch Works to be cerakoted blue. I think I waited about 70-80 days for the case to be cerakoted by Jay at Motorcity. He is a one man show. And really, it's not like I needed the watch ASAP. But Jay did and amazing job on the case, crowns and both bezels.

I thought the chrome hands would look out of place with the flat colors of the dial and case. So I removed the hands from the dial. Removed the factory lume and painted the hands black. A much better contrast to the dial and case. I also relumed the hands with blue lume. Looks white like the hour markers while looking at the watch. But glows blue at night. I will redo the hands since there is a little pitting or air bubbles in the lume. For now I can live with it.

Anyways. I really love the out come. I was hesitant at first with the blue ceramic bezel insert due to it being blue and also it's glossy finish. But it blends in nicely with the bluish AR coated crystal. I love the flat hue of the dial, case and strap. Just perfection. I'm just simply in love with it.

Blah blah blah blah.

Pic heavy peeps.

What it looked like before the mods.

Had both the OEM bezel and aftermarket bezel coated. Because why not?

I did experiment with using my mini torch on the hands. Came out good. But not for this project.

Time to relume the hands
You apply the lume to the backside of the hands.

You can see the lume did not come out right. I will redo it later.

Well that’s it. Hope you enjoyed it. I love watches and love modding watches. It’s a passion of patience. This is my fifth watch I’ve modified. I plan on modding a Seiko SKX or a Russian Vostok next. Can’t decide as I love them both.

I love my seven Orients. No plans to sell them. I do have a Seiko Orange Monster that is my everyday work watch. Love that too.
That looks fantastic! I love a good modded Seiko. Sooner or later I will pick up a Seiko and mod it.

Did you mod that yourself or buy it from Dagaz?
