Not supposed to run them continuously.

In our new house I'll need to insulate and drywall the far wall in the 3rd spot and the front wall where the garage doors are at. We have a small floor heater that works really well in our current garage, but it's like 1/2 the size of the garage at the new house. I'll need to bookmark this thread for idea to heat that place up once we move in.

Your grill should have a 20lb tank. The fittings for vapor are pretty well universal from a 5lb tank to a 1,000 gallon tank. If your grill tank has an "outie" set of threads there's an "innie" set too. The reason your grill tank is "15 lbs" is you're exchanging probably and they're not filling it all the way. They make 10s and 20s not 15s.

Ok so... in true form, I didn't do any of the things I first asked about. I started collecting a subpanel, PCV piping, breakers and got to the wire, knowing I needed 50a service for 32k BTU - the Google telling me I need 6ga wire at 100' that's a CHUNK of change so I said fuck it and called the entire project for right now.

I was in my buddies house the other day and I could smell his 20k BTU ventless heater in his garage from the other side of his house, which I don't want to tolerate, so I scrapped that idea too.

Then I thought about the infrared setups, but had to run both gas AND electric...

So I settled on this guy, which I will bring along for tailgating and stuff too. I'll only run it when I am in the garage and now that it is fully insulated, holy crap it heats up quick in there! 45,000 BTU on high, only needs a standard propane tank and no scent at all!

My hot tub doesn't do much to my bill at all really. Maybe $20 during the winter months, in the summer you can hardly tell its there at all.

The electric heaters, after reading more online, are boosting electric bills by like $60/mo!

Honestly, after looking at it even more, I'm going to end up with a ceiling mounted, vented gas heater whenever I get around to actually completing this project. For now, the little portable guy does great.

My friend has that one ^^^ and it heats up his 2.5 car garage (it is insulated) in an easy 15min. From freezing AF cause we just pushed a car into the garage at it was ~20° outside to a comfortable sleeved shirt 65° in 15min. I was floored, I couldn't believe how fast it worked.

I like this little guy because of how well it'll work outside at tailgate parties. The heater is at the perfect height for warming your hands over!

Shush you. Really didn't make sense to me. I looked online and all these reviews pointed me to a 17k btu electric unit that needed 240v 40a service. Or this, for a fraction of the price and 45k btu. Come on now. Seems easy to me.

240v 40a for 17k/btu? That's absolutely horrendous. lol

To put that in perspective, that's like hummer gas mileage

Think of it like your home. If the air is 70* but you’ve got a tile floor that’s 60*, and hot leather couch is also 60*, that shit is going to feel cold regardless what the air temp is. This is how homes were heated forever. Radiant heat from a wood burning stove. Forced air is the absolute worst way to heat.
