My Latest Purchase v. Home Ownership (Updated - remodel pic heavy)

Well on Thursday I signed my name more times that I have ever did in my entire life.

Its a perfect size for me. No wife, no kids (that I know of).
Its appox 1000 sq ft, 0.75 acre lot, 2 bed, one bath, full basement. Roof is about 10 yrs old, water heater and central heater were both replaced appox 3 years ago and the central air is about 7-10 years old.

The house only had one family that lived in it. It was a retirement home for them. It was built in the late 60s. No pets, or kids ever grew up in this home. Just an old couple.

There is enough room to build a garage and double the size of the house.

First plans are to do the bathroom, full remodel.

Kitchen is ok. I can live with it for a few year. The cabinets are all solid wood, hand made.

The two bedrooms are similar in shape and size. This is where the Tinder action will take place.

Like I said the first order of business is the bathroom. This wont be started until the 2nd week of setpember as I have the Tour this weekend and my parents are going on vacation as I get back from the tour. My father will be assisting me (probably doing most of the work) in doing the bathroom when he returns. I have minimal knowledge in doing restorations, so it will be a learning experience none the less.

Congrats! Perfect home for a single person.

I bought a 1000 square foot house figuring it would be a 3-5 year house. 18 years later I am still there with no plans to move. hahahaha A smaller house has it's drawbacks and advantages. Once you can figure out how to deal with the drawbacks, mainly limited storage space, you are set.

Thanks guys! Im pretty pumped, just need to do the odd and end stuff before I start moving in.

I read this as "there is room to build a garage double the size of the house"

That has crossed my mind... A mancave room attached to the garage was a possibility. Gotta wait for that massive tax return come March :naughty:

Congrats on the buy! I see a house warming party in the future.

Only if you guys wanna drive to BFE Illinois

But... Where's the garage? :tear:

JK, man. Congrats! I just sold mine a month ago, watching the buyer sign all the shit I had to sign reminded me why I don't want to buy anytime soon  Soooo many pieces of paper.

The garage is in the future for sure. We shall see what happens come tax time. Yea I signed my name around 12-15 times. :picard:

It was ridiculous. lol
