Here's your opportunity to represent TheChicagoGarage.com at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. If you have not heard, the bird's the word, and also TCG has a booth at the show again.
Responsibilities: The biggest reason we want a TCG member at the booth is to represent the club and be an ambassador for our tight-knit community. That means talking about the site, the variety of cars, meets, TCG Tour, half-mile racing, handing out business cards to people who visit the booth and overall just spreading the word to fellow car enthusiasts in the Chicagoland area that we're out there doing the same things they do, only with more internet shenanigans. No one is allowed in the booth other than volunteers. Don't pop any hoods that aren't already popped and don't go inside any of the cars. Thanks again!
The biggest problem we encountered last year was the misconception of TCG as a shop, which we will address in marketing materials this year but it's also important to drive home on the show floor.
Where: We're sharing a 120-foot-by-20-foot-long booth with both the Chicagoland Mustang Club (intimately :naughty
and the Windy City Corvette Club. We would like at least one TCG member at the booth at any given time to maximize our exposure, and we're limiting spots to four people because of space restrictions compared with last year. Our booth is in the blue highlighted portion:
How: Check out the sign up dates below and post when you'd like to volunteer. Feel free to sign up for a half day or full day. I'll have more details regarding where to pick up your passes, though last year all you needed was an ID and for me to put your name on the list. Then just pick it up at the exhibitors' booth on the second floor up the escalators. I'll reach out to you for your full name.
Auto show pass: Signing up gets you a free pass to the auto show that's good all week during public days, and you can walk around the show as long as there's another TCG member or Mustang/Corvette car club member there to watch the cars. Go to room S401d on the upper level of McCormick place to pick up your exhibitor pass. Find the escalator right outside the Toyota booth and go up one flight, walk toward the exhibitor registration signs and turn right, then go to the second entrance to pick up your pass.
Parking and food compensation:
When: The AM and PM start and end times are more of a guideline, but should give people the option of a mid-day shift if they want. The show dies pretty heavily around 8 pm.
