The Volt has a 18.4 KWH battery.

Assuming a 80% charging efficiency it would take 23 KWH to charge it completely.

The cost depends on the rate you pay for electricity. I pay about 20 cents per KWH, I think the national range is about 10 to 20 cents per KWH.

So your Volt would take $2.30 to $4.60 to charge completely.

Thatís alleged to take you 53 miles.

this is where i read it.

so the 2017 + has 18.4 battery...

and then 18.4/80% = 23kwh.

but the new volts also go ~55 miles on a charge from what i understand

That is in reference to the brand new volt, which has an 18.4 battery pack.... however along with that GMs range numbers increase to 53 miles on electric only. Their numbers are normally pretty conservative too

I’m volt certified.

Also owned a ‘15 for 3 years and it was honestly the best car I’ve ever owned from a practicality and reliability standpoint. Many a trip with furniture and lumber were taken and trips to Iowa and still my lifetime mileage over 3 years was 255+. And before anybody bitches about electricity cost, I can say without a shadow of s doubt now that we don’t see any negligible difference in our electricity costs now that I don’t have the car any more. I think a rough estimate was about 1.5 cents per mile for electricity
