North Texas Hospital Evaluating Patient For Potential Ebola Exposure « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

A North Texas hospital has a patient in isolation as they evaluate them for potential exposure to the Ebola virus.
Officials with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas released the following statement Monday night:
“Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has admitted a patient into strict isolation to be evaluated for potential Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) based on the patient’s symptoms and recent travel history. The hospital is following all Centers for Disease Control and Texas Department of Heath recommendations to ensure the safety of patients, hospital staff, volunteers, physicians and visitors. The CDC anticipates preliminary results tomorrow.”

I really hope who ever has authority is doing everying not to allow some jagoff to bring this shit back to the states (or anywhere else for that matter).

Lol, no one will do anything... Our fucked up government is bringing ebola patients to this country themselves, whats one more? All those assholes are just playing with fire. Were just a blink of an eye away from a potential outbreak.

Just the other day I was thinking how easy it would be for ISIS or any other extreme group to just get mindless brainwashed followers to believe it's gods wish for them to get Ebola then infect as my infidels as possible... A half dozen or so hitting major metro areas would be enough to shake this country to the core, oh and ass fuck us.

CDC confirms first diagnosed case of Ebola in the U.S.

(CNN) -- A patient being treated at a Dallas, Texas, hospital is the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday.

Several other Americans were diagnosed in West Africa and then brought to the United States for treatment.

The person who first tested positive for Ebola in the United States is a patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, hospital spokesman Stephen O'Brien said Tuesday.

The adult patient developed symptoms days after returning to Texas from West Africa, and was admitted into isolation on Sunday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The CDC is expected to provide more details on the case in a press conference at 5:30 p.m.

Sanjay Gupta explains Ebola virus

The Ebola outbreak has been centered in the West African countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, though there have been concerns about international air travel and other factors -- including the fact the symptoms might not appear until two to 21 days after one is infected -- may contribute to its spread.

More than 3,000 people in West Africa have died after being infected with Ebola, according to a World Health Organization report from last week. The same report stated that there had been 6,553 cases of the virus overall, though the number is suspected of being much higher given difficulties in tracking and reporting the disease.

The reason Ebola isn't being stopped

According to the CDC, Ebola causes viral hemorrhagic fever, which can affect multiple organ systems in the body and are often accompanied by bleeding. Early symptoms include sudden onset of fever, weakness, muscle pain, headaches and a sore throat, each of which can be easily mistaken early on for other ailments like malaria, typhoid fever, meningitis or even the plague.

This government is so incompetent and such a clusterfuck, this really isn't a joke at all.

He got off the plane well over a week ago, and was in contact with god knows how many people since. The shit could be hitting the fan soon.

Exactly. Especially if he was sick and sneezing.

And I know ebola is not an airborne virus but it can be spread through bodily fluids; mucous.
