That's almost at the point I'm at. Hooked everything up quickly when we moved in. Now that we're settled, I'm trying to fix it. If I get rid of the XBox, that'll be a few cords gone.

Your best option, new home theatre sound setup. Just get a receiver, run everything to said receiver and then the single hdmi to the tv....

The idea of having a TV above a fireplace is cool, but unpractical for this reason. I also don't enjoy looking up to watch TV. I'd seriously move the TV elsewhere.

Ya. Id run everything into a receiver that sits at ground level on a stand and then you'll only have one wire from the receiver to the tv.

Tho...please tell me your cable input isnt sitting up that high as well.....Looking at the pic, looks like it is.

Also, these strips are AWESOME for hiding wires along the baseboard and up walls (they can be painted). Strongly recommend them.

You could easily run a strip up the side of the fireplace and paint it wall color to hide the HDMI cord to the receiver down below.

Yea, the TV is where it is because the cable output is behind it.

We had a TV stand in this corner initially with the wire free running up to the output and it looked ghetto as fuck.

Receiver sounds like it's our best option. I'll have to start looking for one.

I'm almost confused how there are so many wires. Is that Xbox, DVR, center channel speaker, and a modem?

Yes. Speaker isn't hooked up. House came with built in surround sound which the speaker is part of. Modem, DVR, XBox, wireless router and some other thing the cable company hooked up which they say is for DVR.

Just open up the wall and do it right. Get a small cabinet from ikea for all the boxes and put it to the right of the fireplace.

I wish we had an Ikea. And last I checked, they don't ship to Alaska.

Well get a cabinet from wherever. I just suggested Ikea because they are nice but cheap. I'm sure you can find something more attractive than a metal rack. In the meantime you can at least zip tie the cords together and maybe even hide the modem/ router behind the TV

Random place for a wireless modem. Cabinet on the floor and opening that wall would be perfect. Or you could use a cabinet, receiver, and that paintable strip for the one HDMI cord if you don't want to open the wall.

Wireless is hooked to the modem which is hooked into the cable output. XBox is currently hard wired into router as my wireless adapter isn't working.

Holy Christ!!! Looks like spaghetti! Oh, wait a minute, I get it now! The Italian!











For the time being I suggest using black bread ties, or something similar, to bind the wiring together and clean it up. That would make an immense difference in itself. Then later do the cabinet idea like others mentioned. What you currently have looks like someone mounted a set of desktop file shelves onto the wall.

Yea that's the plan. I'm in the market for a receiver and will make it all pretty once I find the right one.

Onkyo makes decent ones for decent prices. Just depends if you want something that you can build upon later for whatever set up you may build or just some cheap decent all around one that will help clean up that wired mess.
