Seems the tail came off on a hard landing from what I'm reading/hearing.

I just crash landed at SFO. Tail ripped off. Most everyone seems fine. I'm ok. Surreal...

Hoping everyone makes it out OK, gotta be a hard hit to bend the fuselage like that. weather conditions out there are optimal right now for flight, so it was likely a mechanical failure or pilot error. Nobody knows yet.

Just kinda nuts to think you're going 140-160 MPH on touchdown (roughly) in a bigger plane like that and there's always a chance of sketchy shit goin' on. Hope everyone makes it out OK, though that fuse being bent makes it kinda iffy..

Yep, posted his photo of the damaged fuselage and missing tail section already. Freaky.

i doubt larger planes have "sketchy shit goin on" more frequently than smaller ones or something like you were implying.

and also did you just abbreviate fuselage to fuse?

Grandpa had three planes, my mom owned one before we were born, still grew up around them but not immersed like my mom and dad were. I'd like to think I know a thing or two.

Looks like tail broke off after one of the last pressure bulkheads...... will be interesting to see what they dig up on what actually happened. This is pretty weird
