Just put in a tankless water heater. Pretty envolved deal. Had to rerun gas lines, get into the water lines (obviously) and cut 2 3.5” holes through the side of my house for the intake and exhaust. The latter isn’t normally a huge deal, but my house is brick.

Fuck, I've been tempted to do this if ours pukes. That makes it less tempting. That said, I may try to stick an anode in the tank this year to keep it going longer; It's from 1997 which means it certainly had an anode stuck in it at some point.

Over 20 years on a tank heater is impressive!

I felt like I was on borrowed time when I bought the house 3 years ago and saw it with the original water heater installed in 04.

Fixed tub drain that would not hold open. New cover plate fixed that.

Fixed sink faucet that leaked due to bad call. I wanted to just recalk, wife wanted new faucet. So we got a new faucet.

Tiled the fireplace surround and pretty much finished the living room. This was the last room on the main floor reno. Still waiting for my parent’s neighbor to finish building the mantle. Also still need to do all the shoe molding and back splash in the kitchen.

We started organizing our closet over the break. The builder only had one wire shelf/rod going around the entire closet. There was so much wasted space. So we went to Home Depot and bought some Closet Maid deals to better utilize the closet space. We still have some drawers to purchase and then put on the molding. They really nickel and dime you on the drawers, they range from $40-50/each. We have four cabinets and each one will have a minimum of four drawers.

In retrospect, I wish I had filled in all the holes and painted behind the cabinets. But I figured it'd all be filled with clothes anyway.

Building a bunch of workbenches for a work project... Going to take awhile but it’ll be nice when they’re done.

You should hang your tv over the fireplace that way it will be the main focal point of the room.

It's pretty damn close to the size of our son's bedroom. You would think that the master bedroom would be proportionally as large, but it's not. It's a decent size, but not as much as you'd think it would be compared to the walk-in closet.

I just did some rough repairs, The mantle will cover all of that. It's mostly just an outline where the old mantle was.

I prefer to have it on the TV cabinet. I don't like looking up higher than eye level when on the couch. It would be better when viewing from the kitchen though.

Don’t know if I posted this somewhere or not yet but we put some new flooring in this extra bedroom a few months ago but then kinda let it sit for a while (you know, life). Well for Christmas we had a few people staying over so we needed 2 “spare” bedrooms so I needed to get it done as far as having trim and everything.

So I installed the 6” baseboards and built the custom plinth blocks and door and window casings. Basically the window was just a sill before, I had to make everything myself (including a new sill).

We still need to take all the crap off the walls as my wife previously had a craft desk in there so the placement of the random shelves makes no sense now but to be honest we ran out of time before guests came over. We didn’t even get to paint the trim, so it’s all in primer at this time.

Eventually we want to trim out the entire house in this style, and take out all that builder grade “colonial” trim

4x4 legs and 3/4” MDF tops.... I was thinking about doing 2x4’s glued together for a top but decided the MDF will work plenty well, they’re going to have ESD mats on top of them anyway...

Added a little area for boxes of rags (we go through a ton of them at work), and will be adding drawers on the right hand side eventually.

Nothing wrong with MDF for a worktop. Very stable and dense.
