started re-doing a small back bedroom for some updating/turn it into a guest bedroom. My woman wanted an extra closet so I put in a closet system.

Half of the room was wood paneling, 2 painted walls, 1 of those painted walls was painted over wallpaper. Not surprised since I have righted sooo many hack-jobs in this house, the list just keeps growing. Previous owner took the time to top the wallpaper with a layer of drywall mud, then painted over it.... I mean wtf... WHY? The wallpaper was strippable.... No pics of that nonsense though.

Hiding behind the 70s wood paneling was this trippy ass wallpaper

Still a work in progress, lots of wall repair to be done. Almost should have just re-drywalled.

I almost always do it that way.... By the time you spend all the time refinishing everything you're usually about the same amount of time but a smoother finished project.

Especially if it's a room with exterior walls, then you can upgrade the insulation and vapor barrier at the same time.

I hate stripping wallpaper.

I bought an old house, built in 1910, so the projects are a plenty!
We started with my sons room. Wallpaper everywhere, walls, and back then they didn't paint ceilings, they wallpapered them white, it was terrible.

Here is a before and after with a photo bomb from my son

Wall papered removed, primed, painted, wood work stripped and poly'ed

I bought a weathered adirondack chair at a neighbor's garage sale for a crisp $1 bill.

I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like before I power washed it.. but it looked a lot worse.

After a little sanding, screw tightening and stain:

and here it is all done, in it's new home, as good as new:

finished this mid september. late to post, sorry.... and i appoligize for the shitty pictures, its very difficult to take pictures of a tiny ass bathroom.

it sucks, but i lost all the "before" pictures.. needless to say, it was ugly, original from the late 60s/early 70s.

old floor torn up, down to the rotted subfloor(toilet never sealed right cuz the floor was so thick, and higher than the toilet flange)

access hole cut so i could get rid of the galvanized drain nipple that was rotted and clogged up. luckily my drains are copper/brass for the most part!!

new subfloor and tile pattern cut and layed out

let the patching begin

so tile was put down, patches were sanded and everything primed(no pics), this is first coat of paint.

light fixture and destressed wood mirror installed, vanity mocked up.

tile grouted

after dry

new door and jam, with swing the correct way, opposed to the door opening into the hallway.

custom made threshold, because the hallway is about 3/4" higher than the bathroom now(hallway floor is about 3 previous floors thick, FML)

stained

kinda finished, need to still paint base trim and door/frame.

what do you mean @RICH17

make sure you have a place along the perimeter of the patch to screw to.. and conform the patch panel the closest you can to the hole, and then just tape and mud and sand..

either cut more out to a stud, or use 1x2 and slip behind both pieces where they meet if there is no stud close.

haven't built anything with wood since highschool, but thought i would tackle building a work bench. ended up looking great....well kind of...when i put it all together and took measurements for the top, i realized i suck. i thought i measured everything equally and square, but i obviously did not. lol. so i got frustrated and gave up, ill cut the top tomorrow possible.

Granted it's not much compared to some of the projects in this thread but my father and I made a basic cupcake stand for my wedding. Easy to make, got to spend an afternoon with my Dad and it saved a ton of money over renting one that wouldn't have gone well with the decor for the wedding.

Started with this

How it ended up after staining. I did some spots with a rough sand for depth and other parts smooth to show the grain.

Actually held almost all the cupcakes we needed for the wedding with wiggle room so they weren't packed on as you can see behind me.

I fixed my kitchen window a week or so back by screwing in a screw at the bottom of the frame.

Finally got around to hooking up my garage heater. Electrical and Gas line were roughed in when the house was built. My brother in law and I hung the heater over the summer.

Spent about 6 hours, drilling a 4" hole through brick (fun), electrical wiring, venting the heater, and hooking up the gas line.

fired her up and she started right away. Now the cars and all my stuff in the garage will be kept warm.

Currently in the middle of bricking my fireplace in airstone from Lowes. Previously it was 70s wood paneling. The stone is awesome and looks great but it takes a long time to install

Also the mantle is new, never had one before
